Navy Elementary - Principal Resignation

I assume you are referring to the entitled line cutters/ people who are making u-turns in the middle of a busy, backed up road because they can’t get their life together and get in a damn kiss a ride line the normal way like the rest of us. Because, yes, I agree. Those parents. Eye roll. Lolz.

Or worse yet, drive through the line and one adult gets out of the car to walk kids to the door. A kindergartner is capable of getting out of the car especially with a school employee helping. If they aren’t capable of this you shouldn’t be using kids and ride. Your parental anxiety is also not a valid reason to use kiss and ride improperly.

We only use it once per week for a specific reason, and I see so much bad behavior. I can only imagine on a daily basis.

+1 this exactly. They are responsible for about half of the issues.

The line is so long at that point they would be late if they entered it. So they park and walk. Getting in line early won’t even help as they won’t open the doors until 8:25 am now. The cars are all backed up now bc navy won’t open the doors now until 8:25 am. Maybe because so many teachers arrive late now they can’t have kids going to the cafeteria?

You must be one of the people who do this. And you are incorrect. I’m the one who uses kiss and ride once per week. We can’t get in the line until the later end and have only been late (had to go around to the office) once when it was particularly bad following the January snowstorm. Try it and you will see. And if you’re really that worried why aren’t you getting there even earlier to be one of the first people? If it doesn’t work for you for your kid to be arriving anytime between 8:25 and 8:48, then kiss and ride isn’t for you. You can’t expect to be able to control the exact minute your child walks in. It’s a range. The bus works perfectly well as does morning SACC if you have no flexibility.

One more thing: the doors have not ever opened before 8:25 in at least the last 5 years, at least not officially. It sounds like you want teachers there early so you don’t have to pay for morning SACC.

Nope, I never park. I’m just speculating on why people may park. I’m in the actual line.

Yes they have. I have done kiss b ride exclusively for the last 5 years and I saw with my own eyes that kids were let out of their cars and walking to the building and entering and the line was moving as early as 8:20. The standard was to go to the cafeteria. There were a handful of times we go there early so I witnessed it.

The stated time has always been 8:25 though. No one should be relying on getting into school earlier than the stated time even if it was happening before. That’s not a realistic plan for parents without the flexibility needed to deal with kids and ride.

I don’t care what the stated time was. Kids were allowed to enter. Now it seems there is a hard line and they are not. That is part of what is now causing the back up. The interim messed it up completely.

Yet you will still keep using kiss and ride because you apparently like to make yourself miserable.

Yep. The suggestion to carpool was stupid. Open the schools back up at a decent time and send the kids to cafeteria. And make the parents unload at the top of the hill. Problem solved.

The morning car line is ridiculous. On the times that I have to take my kid to school with the instrument I had to wait 20 minutes in the line, only to have doors shut when kids got out. They expect parents to then go drive around and double park because there is no open parking at that time, get out and walk them in to sign them into the office. That is not considerate and also makes kids even more late (and parents to work). Also, there are school buses that have to sit in the slow moving line on Thompson. Those kids probably get to school late taking the bus due to this extremely slow traffic. I am looking forward to having a principal again, cannot come soon enough.

Can someone please explain why so many parents are doing Kiss and Ride?
