Looks like a new Gaza war has started

I think the videos coming out are horrific. I expect that Gaza is done after this. 2 million or whatever is left of their citizens will be displaced. I agree with the PP that this will be an Israeli beach town in 5-10 years. In the meantime, it’s sure nice to know that one branch of the U.S. government (ie, the House for you MAGA nitwits) is powerless to do anything in terms of support at the moment.

Not MAGA, but all voices are welcome.

I think the Twitter post earlier in this thread pretty much sums it up:

If the Arabs put down their weapons, the violence ends.

If Israel puts down their weapons, it’s the end of Israel.

That’s the reality. And I’m not sure how you work towards a viable solution when that is the reality.

Because of Twitter, we can hear the cheers from Iran, Qatar, Hezbollah, the Taliban, etc.

It’s baffling to see Arab religious extremism around the globe calling for death to Israel in 2023. Baffling.

I cannot wrap my head around the rationalizing of the attack by Hamas earlier today.

Oh they do. There are little kids being used a shields for Israel troops, women being killed and dragged through the streets, etc. It just does not make it on cable TV in the state. You can find it on the web. Israel is very good about managing what makes it out of the occupied territories. They totally control the area. Israel government has media relations and intelligence services work hard to get the right story out. It is similar to what the US military did to manage the media in Afghanistan or Iraq. If reporter can only report what the see. If you keep them out of areas there will be no reports from those areas.

You would be surprised by the number of TV news talk show hosts and producers who get free trips to Israel. It’s a way to produce soft influences in your favor. It is very smart of Israel. I just do not understand why Israel is letting itself to become a partisan issue. That was dumb.

No, you are wrong. Equivalent videos don’t exist. If they did, they would be all over Arab-language news and media. They’d be looped endlessly, in fact. But they aren’t because the Israelis don’t do anything as horrific as the videos that have come out today.

There are plenty of Israelis-at-war videos. Those are always on Arab-language media. Plenty of videos of houses being razed, of soldiers on the West Bank, etc. Those are trivial to find. But there is nothing like today’s horror, even in Arab-language media. And that’s because Israelis don’t commit atrocities like this.

Your racism is so pervasive it is the air you breathe. “Israelis” slaughter and lay siege to brown people every single day. Every. Single. Day. You don’t recognize it because you don’t think Palestinians have human rights that Israelis violate every day.

Fine. Link these videos. Show me the videos of Israelis doing the same as was done today. If as pervasive as you say, you should have thousands of videos of the same thing. So show me a video of Israelis dragging the naked desecrated corpse of a young Palestinian girl through the streets while Israeli onlookers cheer and spit on the corpse.

Find it. Prove it. Otherwise you’re just a disgusting anti-Semite.

Thanks for arming the Taliban to the teeth, Joe!

Rifles, Humvees and millions of rounds of ammo: Taliban celebrate their new American arsenal

Don't you think it's on the Afghanistans for handing it all over with a giant yellow bow to the Taliban?

It's on Biden for handling the withdrawal the way he did. He wanted the credit and didn't care about the logistics and details.

Trump and Pompeo "negotiated" the withdrawal to happen months earlier in May. They agreed that all military and contractor support would end. They had Afghanistan release 5000 Taliban prisoners. The agreement had NO enforcement mechanisms.

Biden's choice was to keep soldiers there which would've surely made the war worse, or try to push withdrawal date back.

How many more Americans would be dead or injured now if we'd stayed?

Something you folks always fail to state.....
The withdrawal agreement under Trump was conditions-based. The conditions had not been met, thus there should have been no withdrawal until they were.

Sure sure more conservsplaining. More Americans died in Afghanistan under trump(65) vs Biden(13).

If this is verified, we can all agree that it's horrific. But if you are at all rational, you've got to put this into its historical context, where for 70 years Israel and its most fervent supporter, the US, have denied the basic means of statehood to Palestinians. Israel has turned Palestinians into monsters. Yes, these are monsters who attacks Israel today, no one disputes that! But they were made because Israel has stolen their ancestral lands and entirely restricted their population's job market. What do young men do when they're forcibly unemployed and raised from birth with Israeli surveillance and brutality?

They take it out on innocents, and not-so-innocents who vote for the Israeli right-wing and those who support encroachment on Palestinian lands.

This is a case where both leaderships have done dastardly deeds, PP. The ones who suffer most are always the most vulnerable: women and children. But the real evil-doers, however hard it is for you to understand, are not the monsters running about in the streets. They're the besuited politicians who condemmed their populations to indefinite suffering for not allowing land, water access and statehood for Palestine. If Palestine had been a functional state from the beginning, we wouldn't be in this mess today.

The lessons is always this: comfortable populations have no reason to go fighting elsewhere. Bring people out of poverty, given them safety and economic opportunity, a means to access food and shelter for their families, and they won't have murderous resentments against their wealthier neighbors. See French revolution.

You'd think that after millennia of history repeating this cycle everywhere in the world, humans would know this. But they don't.

I’m the PP you are responding to, and I do not accept your apologist horror. I know perfectly well that if there existed an Israeli version of that awful video, you’d be baying for Israeli blood. There is monstrosity in what you’ve written here, with your excuses, your minimizing, and your defense of the indefensible.

Also, I’m not Jewish. And in the past I’ve been a critic of Israeli policies. But this is true horror beyond anything I’ve ever seen committed by Israel. Your horrific defense makes me further convinced of that.

DP. There are many many videos and images of Israeli atrocities. Just because you choose to ignore them does not make them go away. Jeff does not allow those video or images because they are snuff video and images and very sickening. As of August over 200 Palestinians have been killed by Israel this year.

And none of the videos are this bad. Who said anything about Jeff? If you want to see videos of Israeli violence, it’s easy to find on Arab media. No need to bring the videos to DCUM. It is trivial, in fact, because it’s endlessly looped.

I’ve seen plenty of videos of Israeli violence in Arab news, which I follow closely. Yet none of the videos are this bad. None.

Former Vice President Mike Pence tore into Donald Trump and pointed to isolationism in the Republican Party as complicit in the sweeping Hamas attack on Israel, decrying American “retreat on the world stage.”

In a scathing rebuke of isolationism in the Republican Party, Pence faulted “voices of appeasement like Donald Trump, Vivek Ramaswamy and Ron DeSantis that I believe have run contrary to the tradition in our party that America is the leader of the free world.”

We are helpless. Petroleum reserve empty. Ammunition empty. Military can’t recruit. Military focused on pronouns, abortion and sex change operations.

Liberal derangement always ends up in catastrophic situations.

Almost nothing you say is true. And you clearly have no experience in the military. Wow. I don't know if your deranged, lied to, or just purposely dishonest
