There are an untold number of people in America who suffer from a form of mental illness. The overwhelming majority don’t commit mass murder. Some might get facial tattoos. Many are known to law enforcement from prior contacts. Some spend their waking hours posting crazy sh+t on the internet. (QAnon snyine?) some might even be what you consider to be unattractive. Nobody is monitoring every internet posting. And as far as we know he never explicitly threatened anyone. What’s your point?

He violated no law and none of the red flags in IL law. Law enforcement cannot monitor round the clock the 10s of millions of Americans with mental health issues. Ban the riffles.

Wasn’t it illegal to have those weapons in Highland Park? How long did he have them and did he when the police came for the violent threats?

Police went to his residence in 2019 twice, once because he said he was going to kill himself and second time because he had said he would kill everyone at home. No charges were pressed, because there was no sworn witness statement. He had no guns then, but had a collection of knives. His gun was legally purchased, per the police. This is why local bans are pointless if weapons can be legally purchased in the town over or the state over.

I’d like to know the age at which he purchased the rifles. If he was under the age of 21 — and over 18 — then my understanding is that he needed parental consent under Illinois law.

Maybe his Dad, who is a MAGA supporter and ran for Mayor of Highland Park, signed the parent consent

Where is his Mom in this ? Prior to his Dad's FB page being taken down there was a thread on there and someone had re-posted all these wacko posts from the Mom's FB page: she was some kind of new age healer wack job with semi- nude selfies of her that she had posted online

Imagine, you know your kid is suicidal and just LOOK at the tatoos and the violent rap music he is posting and what are you doing as his parents ???

Running for Mayor ( Dad ) and Mom is promoting herself as an Alt Medicine " healer "

Try Parenting the child you brought into the world !!!

Totally disagree. Our country has tipped way over trying to protect the rights of criminals and the mentally ill. They need to be insttutionalized, in group home supervision, and/or under forced medications.

People with mental illness aren’t to be equated with criminals. They have constitutional, civil and human rights. What the hell is wrong with you? Do you know anything about congregate residential facilities for people with mental illness? Do you want one operating next door to your home? I didn’t think so. And most states closed their institutional facilities for people with mental illness and/or intellectual disabilities many years ago. Maybe you are the one who needs to be under forced medication.

1/3 of the country is diagnosed with a mental health illness every year. Probably higher since many go undiagnosed. We cant’t lock up or monitor 1/3 of the country.

We can lock up the more severe cases.

No, we really can’t. No one will take them and it’s virtually impossible to commit someone.

He isn't mentally ill. He is a loner who was radicalized online and who's GOP father totally ignored the warning signs and weakened gun safety laws allowed him to play out his nihlistic fantasy.

I rest my case.

This is so sickening... its just like that mass school shooter in Michigan and the Rosenbaum punk, who was denied enlistment in the Military

Charge the Crimo Dad as an accessory to 1st degree Murder

We need to make it easier AND ban assault weapons.

Tucker says it's because women say mean things about males having privileged status in our society. Because he's ridiculous and knows that if he can get you to believe absurdities, he can get you to commit atrocities.

There are no employees to provide 24/7 care to the number of people who need inpatient Psychiatric Care in this country

There aren't even enough nurses to care for medically ill people or trauma victims who need surgery. Nor are there enough teachers or enough Police Officers

ALL of Whom are over- burdened trying to patch society's ills while our elected politicians are in the pockets of the Gun Lobby

ENOUGH

Give Cops, Teachers, Parents, Nurses and Doctors a Break and Ban these Assault Weapons

After That measure, If you want to stabilize American social systems long term Institute:

1) Paid 18 month maternity leave - like Every modern country has except for the USA
2) Free Health Care - like EVERY other westernized, developed country has
3 ) Free College education

Make Corporations pay a flat tax- end their loop holes

and for the sake of humanity stop being the mass purveyor of weapons and war the world over- destabilizing whole nations and making refugees of millions.

These weapons killing Americans at home are a part of a word wide trade in weapons, you know. The damage to our country is its fruit

Local prosecutors will go after the father to make an example out of him. As they should - bankrupt this creep and send him to prison too.

BTW, what happened to the kid who shot up his school and whose parents had bought him the gun as a present, then met with school officials the morning he was making disturbing drawings in class and said they didn't want to take him home? The one whose mom texted him "don't" when she realized he was going to shoot up the school?

There are so many gratuitous gun massacres in this shithole it's impossible to keep track of who butchered whom where and when anymore. So much for those who are looking for fame that way.

Ethan Crumbley and his parents were charged, the cases are still pending.

More Americans killed by gun violence this year than in the 10 years of the Vietnam War combined.....and remember when everyone was in the street for years demanding and end to the war in Vietnam

And yet, in today's America we just re-elect these corrupt spineless politicians and allow them to be paid $$$$ to do NOTHING for us

Ban the Assault Weapons NOW

Then, we should look at why our society is growing looney tunes. Just look at him. WTF. What is happening to children? We cannot pretend a shift isn't occurring. A disintegration of humankind.

Putting limits on guns is PRO CONSTITUTION. Stop the right-wing talking points and any limits are "anti-2A". BS. "Well Regulated" is right there in the text of the Constitution. How does that get forgotten over, and over, and over again???

Ok cool. Glad you think common sense gun control is constitutional

Repeal the Second Amendment. We can do this.

How about a drug test? Fully support a urine sample before gun purchase.

F You, anyone still supporting GOP who block gun safety measures.
