Barnard is Barnard, not Columbia!!!

Again you are missing the point. The school is part of Columbia. The gate says Barnard College of Columbia University. The school tells them to put that on their Resume. The degree says Columbia University, Barnard College. I am sorry some people have a hard time with this. It is the best back door that is possible. I have a boy otherwise I would have exercised the back door.

Can someone please snap a photo of a Barnard diploma to end this frickin’ thread?

For the last time Barnard is Columbia.

I don't know how to post--can somebody post the degree pic and the main gate where it says Barnard College of Columbia University.

This is more than enough proof that Barnard is Columbia

GS is a separate school within Columbia, just like Barnard. At DC’s (Columbia) graduation the different schools had separate ceremonies on one day and everybody came together for a joint ceremony on the next day.

That said, DC said that freshmen at Columbia were all “we’re more exclusive,” but by junior year they all realized that was a dumb game to play.

Barnard is cooler.

At the top of my Barnard diploma it says, “CVRATORES VNIVERSITATIS COLVMBIAE IN VRBE NOVO EBORACO SITAE.” The entire thing is in Latin and is signed by the then-presidents of Barnard and Columbia.

This has to be the dumbest thread on the College and University forum. I hope people remember this nonsensical and meaningless debate when reading other posts of this forum.

If Barnard did not pay a million plus to be affiliated with Columbia, I wonder how admissions would fare. There is no denying it's a back door to a more prestigious neighboring university, whose admissions is without a doubt, much more competitive than a single sex school.

My daughter attends Wellesley. Campus is gorgeous, out of the rat race, safe, and no affiliation debates. She never considered Barnard, and after reading this long thread, I am relieved!

Mental health issues are real at single-sex colleges.

I think that roughly translates to “I didn’t have the stats to get into Columbia.” You’re welcomeZ

Columbia College and Columbia School of International and Public Affairs grad here. No, Barnard is not a part of the Columbia Corporation. Barnard is its own corporation. Barnard has its own President, its own board of trustees and its own endowment.

Here we go again. So will just reiterate. The Degree says Columbia University, Barnard College. Students are told to put Barnard College of Columbia University or Barnard College, Columbia University on their resumes and LinkedIn. The bloody gate on the front of Barnard says Barnard College of Columbia University.

As to the million dollars giving it affiliate status is an admission saying they are paying to do what? Be part of Columbia University. Yes it's not Columbia College, we get it. But a University can have many different colleges see Emory, Cornell, Oxford, etc. My son is in Arts and Sciences at Cornell which is probably more highly respected compared to the NY Land Grant Colleges at Cornell but you know what--all the colleges get a Cornell degree.

For those insisting and re-posting the same argument that it is not part of Columbia--there seriously must have been something that happened to you or your DC. I am sorry if you were rejected by Barnard, Columbia, Hoboken State Junior College, or whatever but the facts are facts. If this were a debate round or a courtroom there is substantial evidence of at least an affiliation with Columbia for Barnard--enough to warrant saying that the young women go to Barnard College of Columbia University. Nobody is misrepresenting by saying that. The misrepresentation would be if they only said Columbia. However, if they say Barnard College of Columbia University they are merely indicating what is on the front gate of the school whether that costs 1 million or 10 million.

Sorry you are not "affiliated" at least with an Ivy. And you have Hillary as an alumni.
