Okay, who were the coaches?

1st Team - Israel aka Stevie, aka “trust the process” of passing drills, scrimmaging, and playing in fear of making mistakes to the point of preferring to sit the bench or simply skipping games and events.

2nd Team - Cory Fick aka Girls Director responsible for hiring both Israel and Chris The division is such a mess he had to assign himself the 2nd team unless he’s simply a placeholder til he finds another coach. Only time will tell since he certainly wouldn’t tell a parent the truth. If the philosophy is, blow up the 14G division by driving the best players to Loudoun, VDA, or Revolution and then start over by promoting the 2nd team to the 1st, than Bravo Zulu. Selling the clout of the 1st team to parents on the current 2nd team should work. Hopefully there are enough new naive families coming in willing to accept playing on the second team since you know there’s no way in hell they’ll accept an offer from the 3rd team.

3rd Chris Rivera (same parent coach as now) If your a current player on the 3rd team and your fortunate enough that your dd still wants to play soccer another year, don’t worry, there should be plenty opportunities to move to the second team If not, then make sure your dd’s appt with her psychiatrist is right after training otherwise, simply go somewhere else. For the grace of the players and families, hopefully there isn’t a 3rd team next year.

What a bitter post. Did Valor hold your child back from being the star on the top team you just know she should be? Chris has been a great coach and I'd be happy to have him again next year. If my dd is moved up I hope he gets moved up too. He's definitely done a better job than the other two "professional" coaches I have experience with on the girls and boys side so far. His daughter being on the team has never been a problem at all. This isn't a "dad ball" or rec league situation. His kid is really good. If anything, I'm more worried she'll be moved up and he won't, and then he decides not to coach anymore.

Glad to see you go though. Sounds like you weren't a fun parent to be around anyway. No one likes to talk to people who just complain all the time.

DP and no offense, but I think your perspective is just going to be different being on the third team. The level of competition in the league that the first team is in is a big step up. If you go to the games you can see the gap in skill development and coaching between many of these other teams and Valor. The gap is widening, not closing. It can lead to some frustration.

GOOOOOOD MORNING everyone! Hope we've all had our mimosas and are ready to discuss the hopeless dreams of our children!

Hope tryouts last night went well for everyone, but we all know someone out there is mad!

Lets start today off with some realism today. If any of our kids had real talent, they'd be in an international program by now.

Honestly, we should all enjoy our kids playing sub-par soccer together, in a wealthy area, while we wear our Lily Pulitzer rompers and relish in how are kids get to play on artificial turf!

Hopes and prayers that one of our kids get's the chance to play for pre-tax $30 a hour, infront of tens of people one day (hopefully the professional head coach is childless)!

I can't speak for the boys side, but the lowest teams on the girls side are usually painfully weak. Rec level or worse b/c rec teams usually have at least a few talented athletes. So Valor gives them terrible coaches. If they get someone halfway decent, its a Valor miracle.

if a kid wants to start playing soccer but more competitive than rec leagues. They get placed in 3rd or lower team. The parent agrees. This makes the parents "entitled" for agreeing to pay and give their child a starting point?

Entitled in general, not specifically in the soccer realm. This is NOVA, remember? Everyone's kid is better and deserves more than everyone else's.

Just funny how many people complain about the quality of coaches on 3-5 teams, when they players are terrible as well. As we both know, it's nothing more than a fundraiser for the kids with actual talent. Just hard to believe NOVA parents are okay with that, but then again, they all believe their kid is going to go from 5 to 1 and play for the USNT one day.
