Biden's VP?

Why hasn't he announced, already? What could possibly be taking him so long?

Campaigns try to time their announcements strategically. McCain named Palin as his running mate the morning after Obama’s historic convention speech and suddenly that became old news.

It’s a tricky business. There are constituencies that need to be brought into the fold before he announces, speeches written and practiced etc. It’s not an instant thing, will be highly choreographed.

Ah, yes. Constituencies to pander to, you mean.

Do the candidates know the pick at this point? Kamala and Whitmer are the most active on Twitter and Rice hardly tweets. Kamala's tweets seem the most vice presidential.

More likely, he's waiting for a moment when Trump isn't saying or doing to tweeting something idiotic and sucking all the oxygen off the planet.

Could be a long wait.

A smart VP candidate would be lying low and not tweeting

A professional wrestler named Kamala has passed away, but the K-Hive has to make it about themselves. Political cults scare me, no matter what side of the isle they are on.

If you want to see the ultimate pander pick: Pence. Entitled old white male Evangelical. That’s a five in one!

Well yes, that's how politics works--on both sides. If it's a moderate, he'll have to appease progressives. If it's a white woman, he'll have to work it out with Clyburn et al. Kamala will obviously be really pissed if she's not the chosen one. Warren probably expects not to be chosen, but there will need to be smoothing over with various parties.

Like Susan Rice and Karen Bass?

I wonder if he's even called the pick yet. Kamala still had last-minute endorsements dropping in the media over the weekend. Maybe the call comes today, with a few days to prep until the announcement Wednesday-ish.

All in all, all the women in the running have deep experience in at least 1 aspect of Govt., are well-educated and articulate, and worthy of representing USA domestically and internationally. The same things cannot be said for the current POTUS. Am very proud of the choices we have and would gladly vote for Biden.

Interesting article about fundraising as a factor in the VP pick. Mostly correlates to name recognition, but Warren (top), Harris, Duckworth, and Bass all do well there. Unclear about Whitmer, for whom numbers weren't given.

Yeah, maybe McCain should have taken a couple of extra days to vet her.

Biden has admitted that he has blown his August 1 deadline but can take all the way until August 17 if needed,

It is apparent that there are issues with the front runner (Harris) and Biden is having difficulty deciding on the alternative. It is not possible to satisfy all constituencies so Biden should just go with the best governing partner who he would like to work with for the next 4-8 years. The announcement should come in the next couple of days.
