Yeah. Mangione was a member of the underclass. /s

Was wondering the same. You’d think he could have his pick of lawyers for this case.

Probably. He’d gone missing/become estranged, and when the full facial pics came out, you’ve got to think she recognized him.

Let me get this straight:

Killer is Luigi Mangione, Ivy League grad with degrees in comp sci, avid reader and active contributor on GitHub.

He has a 130+ IQ but he takes off his mask at a Starbucks to flirt with an employee, then an hour later goes and calmly kills the CEO of a major healthcare company, rides away on a bike.

A week later goes to a local McDonalds where he brings the murder weapon, the fake ID he used to check into a hotel, and a written manifesto on how horrible the American healthcare system is. He somehow gets identified by the cashier after he sits down.

He works on his laptop until police come inside the McDonalds, sitting there with a ghost gun and suppressor he made himself.

Gotcha.

Bro flirted with the employee at the hostel. Old habits die hard.

He was probably the only person in Altoona wearing a mask. That's already suspicious.

He was hungry and I am sure his list of impressive skills does not include cooking for himself. Remember, he was busy reading the Unabomber's manifesto, not cookbooks.

Lawyer Lee is in it for the clicks and YouTube revenue.

He probably hired the local attorney to handle the local issues: extradition and bond hearing. This does not mean he can’t hire another lawyer once he is extradited to NY (which he is fighting but he will eventually be sent). The Altoona lawyer apparently has handled high profile cases (including death penalty ones) and is well regarded. This lawyer may have been assigned to him or he could have gone to him to offer his services or his parents may have hired him.

Dickey won’t represent him long term. He will only represent him through the extradition process.

Mangione is no better than the Unabomber or the Columbine killers. An oversized sense of moral superiority, leading to vigilantism.

It’s wild to see, it seems like he interacted with a lot of conservative media, but they don’t seem to mind because “he did something for the working class”. He also was someone who was never meant to be radicalized. He had all of the privilege in the world and rejected it and I think that is where the strange praise stems from.

Except he was being widely praised even before he was caught and people knew about his privilege.

The Unabomber and Columbine killers were killing people willy-nilly. Mangione was very targeted in only going after someone who is directly guilty for ruining the lives of thousands.

I don't think you know as much about the Unabomber as you think you do.

But even the wealthy get f***ed by insurance companies. We have a HHI but had a huge problem with an insurance company. I completely understand Mangione’s rage. I have felt it (still do from time to time) but obviously I didn’t go shoot the CEO of Aetna. I was literally running the cost of suing Aetna against the cost of paying for a procedure out of pocket. Suing a large insurance company is super expensive because they have a team of lawyers whereas I would probably be penniless from hiring one lawyer to sue. I don’t think most people understand how expensive a lawsuit is and how draining emotionally and financially it would be. You may win coverage but you will spend everything in lawyer fees.

I’m so sad for Mangione’s family. And yes, I’m sure they thought it could be him from the news coverage but couldn’t face it/didn’t want to believe it.

I saw that. And the attorney made a statement along the lines of “I have seen no evidence that leads me to believe they have the right man.”

Um….ok. Good luck talking through that one.

I gather you are running a string of nursing homes?
