UHC CEO Gunned Down in Midtown Manhattan

I agree with your DH. Can’t imagine someone wants a CEO job badly enough to off someone. Also, if you were that upset about claims being denied, you could easily Google who the CEO is.

Tragically, I can also see this.

My expectation is disgruntled former employee though agreed denied patient situation is very John Q.

Because there are literally 1000x state school grads vs t20 private grads. And I’ve never heard anyone—even the biggest snobs—ever claim a business degree from a flagship public university is worthless or hurts your career prospects in any way.

This is naive. The board and largest shareholders (often global hedge funds) actually run publicly traded mega corps.

Have you ever looked at the colleges of CEOs? It's way more average than you'd expect if you read the nuts on the college forum here.

This!! Ivy League ceos are actually not that common. Look up the bios of executives at fortune 500s (esp the non tech ones) and you’ll see plenty of state and no name colleges. If there’s one thing I’ve learned in the business world it’s that your college does not matter and it’s your ability to problem solve and communicate with others and actually get stuff down that gets you promoted.

This is because there are fewer than 10 Ivy League schools and WAY more companies.

The better stat is to look at whether certain schools are overrepresented. Raw numbers tell you nothing.

They aren't overrepresented. Not everyone can be a CEO, unless you start your own company. Getting to CEO has zero to with your undergrad college name.

This was my first thought.

This is my guess too. Lovers quarrel or betrayed friend type situation.

There’s no way a random disgruntled person would know where the CEO is going to be.

If they were on a mission to make it happen yes they could know.

Targeted. Probably someone upset with their HMO. Oh well, it’s America. These things are far too common.

Shocking how the killer just ran off and quickly escaped

It was planned and professional. It was also fairly early (before main rush hour crush) and people in NYC will freeze at a shooting. No one is giving chase after a gun man.

Tbh, I'm surprised the gunman did not encounter NYPD. They are usually posted up in the area during rush hours and should be able to arrive within a minute or two. The outfit is recognizable, so it leads me to believe the shooter likely changed outfits very quickly (maybe only 2-3 blocks away from the shooting site).

No way. Definitely insurance related.

I actually wonder if it is a hit related to their recent ransomware issue:
