Pipelines can be blown up, with ease.

Oh no! I guess the pipeline is made of missiles and drone attack proof materials? How much will Saudi pay for protection of its new pipeline? What about its oil storage tanks, etc? How much will the pipeline cost- $54 billion.

Much cheaper to just work things out with the Iranians.

Will the UAE and Saudi Arabia work things out with Iran? They hate each other.

Iran is a state. It is not a terrorist group by definition. You people are f’ing crazy.

Iran is a terrorist state, very much so.

Nope. Israel is the terrorist state.

Money will alway win out in the end. The UAE left OPEC because they see the writing on the wall. The world is moving away from oil. UAE knows they have to pump and sell their oil before it becomes a stranded asset. The world has past peak oil demand and the Trump Israel war has only reenforce this.

Yep, the USS Liberty and Israel using napalm to burn Americans alive and prevent any survivors is just a tiny fraction of the war crimes they've engaged in.

Yes it happened a month ago.

Why can’t we just “walk away”?

Iran wants reparations.

I get that, but would the US have to pay if we just leave and drop it? They could close the Strait but they can do that even if we do pay.

Yes. We have to pay. We attacked them unprovoked, committed heinous war crimes, and now we must pay.

I agree with the part in bold, but don’t quite see why the US would pay have to pay reparations if we just left. Ethically, we probably should, but that’s not my question.

Because Iran then would close the SOH leading to pandemonium. That economic and political pain would be much worse than working out an agreement. Leading up to the MOU Trump was desperate for a deal and was too weak to push back to Iran's demands that included reparations.

What would guarantee that they wouldn’t just close it again? “We want another $100b, Strait is closed”.

You are correct that Iran could threaten again. In that scenario, other countries with better ties to Iran (China, Russia?) could tell them to cool it.

The JCPOA had other countries on board (including China and Russia) to collectively restrain Iran.

I got that.
I still don’t see what we gain by giving them $300b+.

Why should we gain anything? This war was unjustified. We're the ones who blew up a girls' school.

I don’t think we should gain anything. We lost and it was stupid on Trump’s part to even pull us out of Obama’s deal let alone attack Iran, but I also don’t see why we would pay $300b if we just left.

And as soon as markets close, the war’s back on. All the posters celebrating the “peace deal” sure do look stupid.

You have to negotiate to leave.
US have military bases and business interests all around the Middle East.
You can’t just blow up things and experiment with your new weapon system for few months and say I am done and am going home.

They both are. That much is obvious to the majority of peoples in the world, who don't have any bias in this fight.

No, we don't. Just order the naval ships home.

Many of the bases have already been destroyed.
