War with Iran Part II

Continuation of the Iran war thread.

So what exactly is supposed to happen tonight? I have been working and haven’t kept up with the latest chaos.

I'm worried that Israel may push the president towards a nuclear option. Given that the they're already has been a genocide in Gaza, the thought of them doing another one in Iran does not seem too far out of the question

New York Times out today with a lot of background on how we got here. The NYT is reporting that Rubio and Ratcliffe told Trump the idea of regime change was unachievable, while General Caine concurred. Vance told Trump that starting an unnecessary, unprovoked and existential regional war with Iran was "a bad idea" but Trump started it anyway.

The next day, U.S. intelligence pushed back sharply. CIA Director John Ratcliffe called the regime-change scenario “farcical,” with Secretary of State Marco Rubio adding: “In other words, it’s bullshit.” Gen. Dan Caine told the president: “This is, in my experience, standard operating procedure for the Israelis. They oversell, and their plans are not always well-developed.”

Trump dismissed regime change as “their problem” — but remained focused on targeting Iran’s leadership and military. By Feb. 26, in a final Situation Room meeting, opposition inside the room was clear but fractured. Vice President JD Vance warned the war could spiral and drain U.S. resources, but ultimately said: “You know I think this is a bad idea… but I’ll support you.”

Today’s NYT article explained that Netanyahu led Trump into the war and none of his advisers argued against it, except Vance, because they consider Trump a magical creature who can do no wrong.

Now we have this old, delusional narcissist using all of our resources on his Israeli-led whims and making public statements and taking actions that are grounds for impeachment or the 25th amendment.

Regardless of whether Trump does anything at 8pm tonight (nuclear or otherwise), his actions are grounds for removal.

OP,

Trump has always backed out. He backed out repeatedly on tariffs, which caused endless havoc for millions of businesses around the world. A lot of small businesses had to close. He's been even more erratic with his announcements about his intentions in Iran.

He will not destroy Iran tonight. He might bomb them more intensely than previously. He will not use nuclear weapons.

He is very obviously in dementia and has lost a lot of capacity for long term planning. He acts on impulse and only sees short term results. He cannot understand long term consequences.

We must all push for removal from office in any way possible.

Most well respected military analysts have said that the use of nuclear weapons by the US is unlikely. However, the same cannot be said for Israel which is behaving like a rogue state and has already threatened the use of nuclear weapons in the past under Golda Meir.

It is not civilian infrastructure. It is the bridges and electrical plants used to advance the regime’s goals of continuing in their terrorist ways.

What you people do not understand is that the Iranians opposed to this oppressive murderous regime welcomes this.
