Hayfield Football Coach Fired

Why did this coach want to stay at a public school anyway? If he's so great, why isn't he at some private school that has the budget to pay him and put his recruits on scholarship?

He left bc PWC had had enough of him using facilities for his personal business. Not less eyes would be on him bc he brought PME to Hayfield and the 7th and 8th graders can use the same weight room, etc.

Still wish someone would force him to produce the financials for his non-profit. Very odd that any other non- profit can find the financials and his you cannot

The VHSL found a lot of errors in FCPS residency checks. FCPS also did not check residency for all the 24+ transfers, only a subset. Not sure what happened there.

Edison just scored first and walked to the buses leaving as winners

The Edison kids are truly the real winners. It's amazing how this SB and Reid sent them into this knowing it would be a slaughter. If only Edison had hired Overton instead and he had brought them all those players.

Disagree. This is an unfair situation for the adults to put them into. Hopefully no one gets injured.

OK yeah, I forgot about that aspect. A team stacked with big, huge recruited players when most teams only have 1 or 2 big kids. Reid, did you think about this? The optics look bad for Reid no matter what happens here. I think she's not going to last.

The Hayfield players are not big, huge, monsters. In fact, they are quite average. You all have made them into something nefarious, fearful, and detestable.

These so called adults talking about cheating sure have no problem lying. My daughter is an Edison soccer player and she has friends at Hayfield so while we support Edison we don't hate Hayfield. The lies on here are crazy. The football players are not large at all.

My son is a Lake Braddock Football player and has no hate against "new" Hayfield players. To be honest, lots of the kids in the Football team follow the new Hayfield players on social media since the summer.
My son says they are very good. Not huge at all, but very talented and athletic.

People here are really blowing things out of proportion and many don't even have kids in the Football program. LOL.

They have an ulterior agenda and it is to remove people off the SB and put in right leaning members. They don't watch or care about HS football.

Liberal democrat here with no kids in FCPS. I hate what Overton and his band of lunatics have done to high school sports. Go read the details about what has been going on, how students and admins were retaliated against for speaking up, how one of his assistants acted with a minor, the issues with fundraising etc. Some documents mention 34 players transferring in and following Overton. Go look at the social media pages of the assistant coaches and bizarre hangers on. It's a clown show and these adults act like this is the NFL and they are entitled to do whatever they want. There are shennanigans with addresses and some declaring they are homeless. The parents know this is wrong but they all belive we need to get out of the way because their kids are NFL bound. This is a high school sport and Overton and crew believe they are in the NFL. Freefield a stacked team that was built by breaking rules.

The only thing racist and maga about this is the way FCPS is supporting this and not stopping it.

This 100%.

Schools are probably going to be reluctant to touch Overton given what we know has been going on.

So if the Freefield football players aren't as big or tall as some of you all are saying, their football career is not going to go far in college. If they even play in a div 1 college all 4 years.

No one but the Freefield parents believe these kids will play a minute in the NFL. It is the end that justifies the means for them.

So let’s consider this the only game where you could say they were even is RB, and they lost. Did you hear complaining, oh we played private school , oh we can’t compete. I’d venture to say he’s def thought them to try and not be afraid if nothing else

Omg. You are so funny. This has nothing to do with anything being discussed.

How many players followed Overton from Freedom and other schools? How many went through his private program? Where are the financial documents for his private program? Where is the money that they raised via the team mom? Were there kids being bussed to/from Woodbridge?

It would be helpful if we had facts.

There may be some future NFL players currently in the Virginia playoffs. Let the kids chase their dreams.

The bad energy amongst the Hayfield haters is just disgusting.

Yes, ignore the fact that adults broke the rules just so these kids can get their showcase.
The bad energy begins with people who break the rules to get what they want. Admit it. You think your kids are better than everyone else and should be allowed to build a super team even though it is against the rules of HIGH SCHOOL sports. Whatever will get your kids front and center is justified in your mind.

Seems to me most of you believe you are judge jury and executioner here. The bomb has yet to drop. Regardless private program or not means it’s potentially open to anyone willing to pay for it. If you ran something you would want to be compensated as well. He gave kids of all ethnicities a place to play, if you thought you were good enough it was there if you didn’t then you didn’t. That’s between him and the tax ppl. Heard they raised a lot but it goes back into program (I believe) because the stuff they get is more than what budget may allow (not really sure), I heard it but hearing is not proof. I’ll be honest I’m only here for the football portion nothing else matters, if he did something wrong and he’s caught then he faces that bell, if he’s proven innocent ppl owe that man multiple apologies

This spiraled out of control because Michelle Reid is a flake who couldn’t tolerate the idea that a Black coach and some Black parents might call her racist if she stepped up and intervened to stop this charade at Hayfield. She forced others to act instead and now the courts are involved and her initial decision not to call for an impartial investigation looks like really poor judgment.

She needs to step down now. Her credibility is completely shot and she’ll have no ability to move forward with some of her other priorities like this massive county-wide boundary study.

The unfortunate truth is that most of the hate is based on color.

That is not true...so stop trying to make this a color issue. I'm black and my hate is directed at the disgusting behavior of the adults (FCPS Superintendent, Hayfield Coaches, Hayfield Principal, Hayfield AD, FCPS Lawyer, Fairfax District Court Judge, parents that lied to transfer the kids). It has everything to do with morals. It has to do with what we are supposed to teach our kids (honesty, integrity, follow the rules, be kind to thy neighbor). These people bullied parents and kids, displaced several kids that live in their respective districts, threatened people's jobs if they stand up to the nonsense, and the list goes on. They are cheaters and need to be held accountable. I don't like when people insult my intelligence and Michelle Reid just played in our face. Don't come on here and misrepresent what someone is motivated by. Everyone wants to play the race card when it suits their narrative. Michelle Reid owes an apology to that SoCo coach and if he doesn't get one, I hope he sues her personally for defamation (she can take it out of that $424K salary), because I don't want to use my taxpayer money to fix a wrong that she created. When Hayfield matches up against Private Schools that can legally recruit, they get handled, a.k.a. Riverdale Baptist. If you want to be able to go to the school of your choosing, go to a Private school and pay the money. If you want to legally recruit as a coach, then coach at a Private School. If you want to compete against teams that have equal ability to recruit legally and test your true talent, then go to a Private school. But don't cry poor and act like you are a victim because you're getting called out for breaking the rules. Maybe you'd have some money if you weren't paying Overton for his pay to play league and praising him because he cares about the kids. Here's a little secret...Overton is making money off your kids.

Nice speech and agree, but the SB is the ones that can force Reid to do anything. Reid is tucked away in her cushy Gatehouse office (w/security to keep pesky taxpayers away), and cashing her 400K checks. The SB is only pressure point to effect change, and they are AWOL on this.
