Is your vitamin D level normal, and if so, what do you do

to keep it at that level? Do you take supplements or go in the sun?

Country Life vitamin D supplements, two 2500 iu's capsules every day. Last time I checked my level was 68. Before supplements I was at 31 and that was just spending a lot of time in the sun.

I go outside daily (anywhere from 30 min in the winter months to hours in the nice weather) and also eat Vitamin D rich food. My levels have always hovered in the mid 60s ( I get it checked probably more frequently than most as I've had IBS issues in the past)

What are Vitamin D rich foods?

Tuna, Salmon, Cheerios multi-grain, there are a few fortified dairy products, egg yolks (although I don't eat eggs often), certain mushrooms.

I cannot keep my Vitamin D or iron levels normal no matter what I do - supplements, foods rich in those things, spending time in the sun. I have given up.

OP here. I have trouble keeping my iron and bit D levels normal too. I was taking 5000 U per day for weeks and even then, I was low. I am now on 1000 U per day and 5000 U every week.
My kids also have low levels...

Don't give up; time to move!

Op not all supplement brands are created equal. Have you tried switching to see if the levels come up? I also give my kids a D supplement in the winter...knock on wood, no flu yet - without flu - no flu shots! My oldest is 10.

I started at 7, was on Rx for a while, and have been taking 5000 IU several times a week--level is around 50.

I have been taking 5000 IU per day of vitamin D for months. It has slowly crept up to 38.

For those of you who have a great Vit D level, how high did it have to go before you felt better? I still don't feel well

38 is normal range, right?

I was at 31, in August, at the end of a summer at the pool. To 23:11, that's "normal" but it's not "optimal". I am now in the 60s. I take 10,000 IU of vitamin D daily during the winter and 5,000 IU between Memorial Day and Labor Day. To 18:50, according to my doctor, you want to be in the 60s.

Vitamin D is poorly absorbed without thr presence of ample magnesium. Magnesium deficiencies are characterized as epidemic. Those of you with low or D despite taking supplements probably have a mag problem, not a D problem.

Mag/cal/D should be taken before bed

Iron/C with breakfast

Skip the multi vitamins and take these supplements as I've outlined and get back to me. It will be life altering.
