The best play would have been to seek a motion of censure because impeachment is not going to go anywhere.

The Senate is now in control and the Republicans control the Senate. C'est la vie

He's going to be impeached. The Senate cannot stop it, the Republicans cannot stop it. Nor are they considering the dignity of the Senate, as they should be.

He will be impeached and then he will be acquitted in the Senate!

Democrats will fume about it and in November the voters will decide if Trump should be reelected.

And in the meantime, the Republicans will go to Moscow again for the Fourth of July. I guess.

They can go to Moscow until 2025, given that Trump will be reelected - after all, that is the whole purpose of this impeachment charade: to try and damage him since most Democrats with an iota of realism know that Trump will win reelection.

And when he is reelected, the Democrats will go apoplectic, but that is nothing new!

You must be so proud of your patriotic party, poster-who-is-not-named-Boris.

Hint: Just because Democrats make this claim, it doesn't mean it is true.
Democrats have claimed all kinds of things for the past 2 years. Nearly all their claims have turned out to be a bunch of lies.
Another hint: The evidence presented IS indeed disputable.

It really isn’t disputable that Trump and his coconspirators repeatedly asked for personal political benefits from a foreign government as a condition for official acts of U.S. and Presidential support for that government and its President. It also isn’t disputable that Trump and the White House obstructed the investigation by Congress.

Both are disputable.

No, not really. Mulvaney and Sondland both said it for all of the world to see. The facts of money being withheld, conversations with Ukrainians etc as per testimony, emails and public pronouncements line up perfectly. It really is undisputable for any average person to understand.

Sondland admitted he was PRESUMING. People are not convicted on presumptions.
There were no personal benefits being sought. You can PRESUME that all you want.

Sondland made reasonable inferences from the evidence at hand. Jurors are instructed that reasonable inferences are permissible. And people are convicted, unassailably, based on those inferences.

Trump has turned out the Republican party like a pimp turns out a whore. It starts with small transgressions -- little things that go against the girl's view of her self. This creates cognitive dissonance the pimp leverages until the whore is having sex with strangers so she has money to bring home money to Daddy. Some know what they are doing is wrong but can't see any way out. Others protect their ego by convincing themselves that the pimp loves them.

Republicans used to be a clean, healthy girl from a good family who'd have nothing to do with a guy like Trump. Now they're strung out, broken, and in denial.

Trump, Giuliani, Mulvaney, and others have all admitted that they did it.
