Solar is doing this because the ranking app actually screws them if they don't beat lower level teams by a large number of goals.

This is actually a problem with the ranking app. Often tournaments only allow teams post at max a 6 goal differential even if the score is say a 15 goal differential. They do this because blowouts make the tournament look bad so they don't post the real score. Another issue is coaches start pulling back when they get up by 5ish goals. They fo this to be nice + tradition. However again this screws the club over in the ranking app.

Why is it a "problem"? College coaches don't look at the rankings for recruiting. Only crazy-obsessed parents care about their kids team's rank.

The "problem" is that the ranking forces coaches to blow out opponents by as many goals as possible because it affect their ranking. It's also an issue because when tournaments artificially limit the number of goals reported it also affects teams ability to move up in the ranking.

As much as you want to deny it ranking matters to coaches recruiters players and parents.

Totally obvious to the fact that you don't need to "blow out" the opponent. Just need to win by a comfortable margin which they all of course know and if they choose to run up the score, they just suck. I don't have access to the rankings criteria, but the guy who runs it is very transparent and I can assure you winning 21-0 doesn't benefit anyone. I'm sure they were smart enough to institute a cap like every tournament. Heck they don't even count PK wins as "wins" because it's 0-0 in regulation and that's more reflective of comparative strength according to the app owner. If the rankings stuff really bothers you this much, just message the creator and they will promptly respond to you.

Recruiters and coaches do not care about the Rankings app. It’s more for psycho parents like you.

They do care about watching quality teams which the rankings app will clearly tell you who they are.

the rankings app is the best we have right now. it may have a few flaws, but overall it is the best with the way soccer is so fragmented. the owner does the best to keep up to date. it has been spot on with my daughters team with about 95% of the matches with the higher ranked team winning. sometimes we have beat a higher level team in a tournament but some of the teams did not have their full squad. I have been pleasantly surprised with it. kids have no idea about it and don't even look at the rankings.

Just to maintain your high ranking you'll need to beat the not highly ranked teams by 3+ goals. If the tournament isn't allowing for more than a 6 goal differential there's no incentive to play because there's no way to advance in the rankings. Even worse say the whole team gets sick and they lose they'll drop like a rock in the rankings.

By tournaments trying to be "nice" and not allowing blowouts they've unknowingly created a situation where no top teams will participate.

Or, sign up under a slightly different name. The apps generally track based off the name. Even if they did track by ID it isn't difficult to make a new one.

Ultimately though, the only ones who care at all about those ranking apps are parents

I 100% know how to game the app + look for situations where teams can up their ranking. But this not not important.

I'm just calling out that "being nice" by coaches or leagues or tournaments + not allowing or going for blowouts screws over highly ranked teams.

GA’s numbers are wrong but ECNL’s numbers are right! Ok…

You fell for the same numbers that the imyouthsoccer page did (which is why they took their post down). As people have pointed out, you don't have to register to show up. I'm not sure why people are so obsessed with wanting one league to be so much better than the other. Is this not supposed to be about more opportunity for girls with talent to be seen? What is the benefit of having all of the talent consolidated on a few good teams? We've become so lazy for the sake of convenience that we're ok with college coaches not even doing their jobs when it comes to recruiting.

GA hats got the marching orders to help minimize the impact of their poor coach turnout for their showcases. we get it.

Less coaches doesn’t equal poor turnout. Most of our kids won’t sniff D1, regardless of the league name on your hat.
