| This thread is disgusting |
And your on it reading it. |
So I have younger players and don’t know what YTC means. I’m gathering it is just local originally? Can someone tell me how many kids go? And what are the next levels beyond that? How many get to progress to each one? Does it even mean anything? Or is this what ODP was 5 years ago that everyone makes fun of now? |
|
YTC=youth training center. This is the regional invite for youth national team training to develop the player pool. While they definitely get players around here to this level it’s very difficult beyond it to the next level-I think only 1 girl made it made it from FCV if you look at the lists. The person being referenced to in this thread, Diane Drake, is a talent scout for this program.

| Trying to get this thread back on topic-when are FCV and Arlington going to decide on a league and make an announcement? Is ECNL still in the cards? I feel like I’m watching a bad soap opera unfold!! |
Youth Soccer is a bad soap opera with politics running the race. FCV is not getting ECNL. I think Arlington won’t either unfortunately. Best thing for families to do is talk with your child and find the right Coach for your kid at what ever level your child wants to play in. |

It's not obvious how this plays out if there are no new acceptances into ECNL. New leagues like GAL may need early commitments from clubs to even be ready for a Fall start, should COVID restrictions allow it. The need for club commitments will flow down to players who will would have tough decisions to make. |
| Is FCV prepared to fold entirely? If they lose DA because the players elect to go elsewhere then what resources do they have? |
| ^^^Ex-DA players I meant |
|
FCV is owned by the St James, so it won’t fold. It’s a brand. They’ll be able to market it and its past success regardless of what league or platform it has access to. Families may also be foolish enough to fall for it.
Their previous success was heavily influenced by exclusivity: first in ECNL, then in DA. That exclusivity has eroded over the last few years. Not only does it no longer exists for them, they’re on the outside looking in. It’ll be up to families to decide whether their program can still deliver the results (college recruiting, NTC invites, etc). I suspect there will be diminishing returns in that department, but it’ll be gradual, not immediate. |
|
There are no reassuring signs that the St. James will be able to reopen any time soon. If they go bankrupt, does FCV go with them?
I hope the powers that be are falling on the ECNL leadership’s feet begging for some mercy! |
If any ex-DA club was in ECNL, they would broadcast it. As of now, Arlington/FCV/MU are not in ECNL. With Loudoun, VDA, and BRYC in ECNL I think it’s relatively understood ex-DA clubs won’t be invited to join ECNL this year. COVID-19 our this whole thing into hyperdrive, and it basically sucks for ex-DA that didn’t get invite to ECNL. It’s up to those clubs now how to place themselves, and the general line of thinking is: - DPL/GAL (many ex-DA clubs going into this) - Forming new top division of EDP - Resume their current leagues Yes, the silence is deafening. |
St. James is VC backed and must be bleeding cash badly by being shut down right now. They may go under soon. And if they do, so does FCV. |
Another fact-free statement. |
