They probably weren't that close. Harry was the spare till William had his own kids. There really is no place for him. The Queen will hold on to the title till she dies. Doing all the royal duties sounds utterly boring and no life. Who would want that? There is no chance of being King.

He's doing the right thing. There are plenty of others to do the duties. There really is no need with 3 generations.
