I'm not a TERF, unless you define that as wanting to be able to discuss women and motherhood in general, and the pre-eminence of reproductive rights in women's rights? I welcome anyone of any gender who wants to fight for women's rights. |
Says the pot stirrer. I shared my thoughts above. Again, I’m open to language evolving to be more inclusive. |
Do you think the rights of trans people impose on women’s rights? |
I'm not a pot stirrer. I have posted at length about concerns about the importance of being able to label women's issues women's issues. I've brought up the importance of periods remaining a woman/girl's issue because of how it literally still holds WOMEN back in other countries. You never respond to any of that. You just call me names. Again, you refuse to say what you think about feminism and the terms 'women' and 'women's rights' despite being fine throwing out inflammatory comments vaguely linking those terms to slurs. |

#1 Stupid of PG to announce this. Really, what was the point?
#2 Anyone offended with the packaging could pick from several other competitor products. #3 We live in a country where we are terrified of offending or looking to be offended. We are not all equal. We will all be discriminated against at some point. We have a lot of options so if you don't like it, move on to the next. |
I'm the one who called you "Lisa". You're not responding to me in this post. |
Again, for the third time, I am open to language evolving to be more inclusive. Why are pushing these hyperbolic scenarios? |
I think we figured that out when PP said “I'm not the poster calling you Lisa BTW.”
|
What hyperbolic scenarios are being pushed? For the record I have not once in this thread complained about bathrooms or sports issues. I do think sports issues are complicated but I haven't talked about them here. If you are talking about the idea that the word 'woman' could become a bad one that happened because someone literally invoked the word 'f*g' as a comparable term. Women being denied educations because of their periods is not hyperbolic, that is something that is actually happening. |
Going from a minor change in pad packaging in the US to girls being denied an education abroad is certainly hyperbolic. As is “women” becoming a “bad” word. Fearmongering 101. |
Well? |
And I posted repeatedly here that this one package doesn't matter. But that clearly the thread has evolved into a more global conversation about the issue. Personally I won't even think about this the next time I buy tampons, I will just buy whatever cheap organic tampons are on the shelf. No plans to boycott. Acting like people are still talking about the packaging after 20+ pages of an evolving discussion is willfully ignoring what people are trying to spend time communicating. Calling them hysterical and invoking anti woman language makes you sound like a troll. Asking people if they work in a certain northern virginia village over and over again and just calling people who express concern over this transphobic makes you sound like a troll. Refusing to give any opinions whatsoever about your thoughts on women's rights makes you seem like a troll. If you really care about trans rights you are doing a pretty poor job defending them as you seem far more focused on silencing women who ARE supportive of trans rights than actually saying anything of substance. |
I answered 3x already. GMAFB. Do you think the rights of trans people impose on women’s rights? You are trying to force the conversation to jump from pad packaging to a “global” conversation in a disproportionate manner. Extrapolating the removal of Venus to the word “woman” becoming a “bad” word and girls prevented from getting an education? If anyone is a troll here, it’s you. |
Saying, "I believe language should be more inclusive" does not answer any of that. I am not ignoring your response. But to me it is evasive as it does not actually answer any of the questions I asked. I think someone that invokes f_g as equivalent to 'woman' needs to give an actual answer about how they feel about the word woman. The question is, should language about menstruation become more inclusive. It isn't about a specific package of pads, who cares about a specific package of pads. Not me and not others here. I do care very much about language around menstruation losing woman focused language BECAUSE of reasons like I cited. Once again you try to ignore what I'm actually saying, point to me being a lunatic about a pack of pads that I don't care about and avoid answering actual questions so you can appear to have the moral high ground. I've been extremely clear and forthcoming about my position, I am not a troll. You just want to believe that anyone who thinks something like this must be some super christian anti trans mouthpiece when I am entirely the opposite. There are a spectrum of viewpoints on this. |
| Guys, start a new post instead of responding to umpteen posts. While the endless nesting of comments is actually kind of pretty as I scroll through it, it's taking up waaaaaayyy too much space. |
