Is this going too far? Always removes Venus symbol to acknowledge transmen who menstruate

Anonymous
Always has announced plans to remove the Venus symbol from the packaging of their sanitary pads, in an attempt to be more inclusive of trans men and non-binary people who use their products. CNN reports that Procter & Gamble has responded to activists who have asked the company to account for the fact that not only cis women menstruate—the Venus symbol is historically supposed to stand for the female sex.

Interestingly, Bill Maher had some otherwise ridiculous conservative on his show last week who raised this topic and Maher and the rest of the panel went off on him for that “nonsense” — basically saying something like this would never happen and he was making it up. Wonder if Bill heard about this, and wonder what he thinks.

Question: is this going too far? Or is this NBD?

Men don't menstruate.

Here’s the Bill Maher segment where Dennis Prager raises the issue of “menstruating men” under the auspices of “big liberal lies.”

Why?

Aren’t you curious how people feel about this? I am.

Does it affect you in any way? No.

No need to be hateful, judgmental a-holes.

As a woman, why should I care? If it makes them feel more included, awesome.

Jeff has a low tolerance for threads on transgender issues. They tend to get heated.

Op here. I’m not being hateful or judgmental.

I’m just curious if people think this is going too far.

Watch the Maher segment. I’m liberal, and I thought he was nuts. The panel thought he was nuts. They said something like this would never happen. Prager must have seen this news and the rest hadn’t (the article predates the segment). Curious what Maher and Ronan think now.

Full disclosure: I didn’t even know always used the Venus symbol, and I’ve used them for decades. Couldn’t care less if they ditch it.

NP. As a cis woman I feel like this is a problem that the market can solve. Personally, packaging decoration is not a factor when I choose my products but if it's a big deal the masses will speak with their money.

Also, who has time to GAF about this? I mean, there are like 1000 other dumpster fires threatening "women's rights" that you could get upset about...

I don't pay attention to symbols on my box of tampons - so its absurd to be "outraged" about something I wasn't even aware of. This is kind of dumb altogether -- who cares?

I DO think tampons, pads, and menstrual cups should free or at least heavily subsidized. It's kind of unfair that 50% of the population has to shell out some $$$ for something that's inherent in our DNA no matter what we do or don't do.

AKA judgmental.

It reeks of malevolent intentions.

If it doesn’t affect you why do you care at all?

Is this menstrual equity?

I dont think they should be allowed to legally change their BC until a full transition has taken place. Women don't have a penis, and men dont give birth or menstruate. But, as a woman, I don't care that they removed that symbol.
