DP. I agree though I wonder if he's the kind of guy who could be manipulated into thinking he's in control while also keeping your distance. People who are really controlling but also manic can sometimes be managed by just telling them what they want to hear and meeting their expectations around certain activities or events. Because they are so busy and so often focused on other things. So like I know women who are married to men with similar personalities but those guys are also super career obsessed and ambitious and travel a lot andor work really long hours. So if you're willing to play their game to an extent you can also mostly just live a nice life spending their money and raising your kids how you want because they aren't even around. But the women I know with men like this don't really mind playing the part of "perfect" wife and mom and I think on some level even like it. The like making the house look just so and playing hostess to their DH's colleagues and friends and being competitive about how their kids look and where they go to school and how they do in academics and sports. For the most part they buy into that value system. So the fact that their DH's are obsessed with that stuff and can actually be huge jerks about it if there is any deviation is not viewed as that much of a deterrent because it's like "well he just has high standards" and that's said with pride because they view it as a compliment to them. Now how the kids respond to this is more varied and not alway so positive -- they didn't make an affirmative choice like their moms did. Will be interesting to see how this plays out with Blake's and Ryan's kids. I bet at least one of them rebels hard. |
You are probably right that that’s how she deals with it. But what you just described is my personal version of hell. I just can’t imagine playing a game with my husband in order to literally get through life. I mean, this is not a dress rehearsal as they say. This is your life and the father of your kids. What you described is either walking on eggshells, or being relieved that your life partner is busy with work and traveling and not around. Sounds horrible. |
| She just seems like a shitty, tone deaf person with the worst "sarcastic" sense of humor. Latest unearthed interview is being asked what movie makes her laugh the most. Her answer was Shawshank Redemption. |
+1 You're both right. There's a certain type of mean girl who thinks it's all a game, including the relationship with your husband. They just want to "win" even if the prize is a lack of true intimacy. BL might be that type. |
Are you kidding? Taylor isn't the hanger on here. Zoe Kravitz is cool. Rachel Weisz is cool. Cameron Diaz is cool. Blake Lively is NOT cool, although she tries very, very hard. |
Agree 100%. She sucks. |

Thought this was a pretty fair and even assessment of the whole conflict with Baldoni:
https://www.rollingstone.com/tv-movies/tv-movie-features/it-ends-with-us-crew-members-talk-feud-blake-lively-justin-baldoni-1235089972/ In the end I wind up feeling for Baldoni. He might have been a somewhat green director on this production but it sounds like he was professional and kind and that people liked working with him. I also feel like the accusations Blake's people have leaked about Baldoni -- the kiss that "lingered" and him talking to his trainer about lifting her -- feel extremely manufactured to try and get people to dislike him. There's just not much too them. The two filmed multiple intimate scenes and were playing people who are supposed to have intense physical intimacy -- the set had an intimacy coordinator and there are zero accusations that Baldoni crossed any lines. Even if he did "linger" during one of their scenes it would honestly be hard to say whether that was him violating a boundary or simply staying in character for a second or two. Acting is weird and filming love scenes is especially weird. It feels like she's trying to make something out of nothing. The "fat shaming" accusation is even dumber -- Lively is not and has never been fat but she's also 5'10". It's not weird for a guy only slightly taller who has a bad back to want to make sure a lift that is written into the script goes well. I don't think Nicole Kidman or Cate Blanchett are fat either and I bet a lot of actors would quietly want to make sure they didn't embarrass themselves lifting a much taller-than-average costar in a scene. Lively just comes off as temperamental and difficult and making it hard for everyone -- not just Baldoni but also costumers and set designers and editors and others working on the film -- to do their jobs. The only think I can't square is how the cast and Hoover and everyone has just aligned with Lively. I guess they know where the power is -- Baldoni is a no one in comparison. I wonder what this does to his career. Hollywood is so small. |
| Blake is canceled |
I couldn’t access the full article, but is this the one that also said that Blake was really involved in the movie until she started noticing some really criticisms online of her age and the characters fashion and she basically just lost interest and made it clear she wasn’t really happy to be there. Because that totally aligns with her starting a million different businesses, doing a big launch, then getting bored and not seeing it through. Blake strikes me as someone who hasn’t had to push hard for many things in life. She wanted a career in Hollywood which is like a one in a million shot and luckily, she happened to be born to an actor/casting director family. She hasn’t maybe had those tough character building things many of us get to by late 30s. Maybe this is a good lesson. |
| I think the point is her behavior has been bad for a long time. She is self important and treats people badly. It is not okay. A lot of bigger names have been called out in recent years and have gone down. Many to prison. It is the right thing to do. She is not even sorry about it. She is worried for herself and her career. And the fact that her family is defending her knowing full well what type of person she is makes me want to speak up. |
I didn't know Ryan was a control freak. When was that news? |
Totally. |
They weren't super explicit about it but yeah -- she was initially really invested in the movie and then they paused shooting during the strike and when they came back she didn't seem to want to be there at all. I am not sure people know for sure it was because of the criticism of her character's costumes that circulated online (the initial photos from the set WERE insane in terms of how she was dressed and how her hair looked) but that was defintiely the speculation. I doubt she will take a positive lesson from this. I think she will feel like a martyr and decide that people are just being unfair or sexist or whatever. And she'll talk about it like it was a huge trauma and trial but in reality she'll experience no ill effects and go back to life as normal. I do think she'll hold grudges about who was on her side and who wasn't forever though. And that's why the cast has aligned with her and people are afraid to say anything negative about her on the record (but will leak negative things about her anonymously). |
She should just reissue the movie “Blake’s Version” and CGI different outfits in. She could release lots of different variants with the footage only Baldoni shot, BLake’s version with the “right clothes,” etc. As long as there is a variant with a musical with Taylor Swift in it, she can be a mean martyr all she wants, sing and talk about her grudges and people will eat it up. The behavior is the same, just Blake is the actress version of Taylor Swift. |
I don’t know Taylor personally, obviously, but the comparisons are really weak. Love her or hate her, Taylor is incredibly talented and prolific. You really can’t say that about Blake. feel like she waltzed into an acting career because of nepotism and lucked into a lot of what she has. Let’s be honest, if she married penn badgley or the equivalent of another actor on not on the same success level of Ryan Reynolds, would we even be talking about her? |
