How Harvard discriminates against Asian Americans in college admissions

Until this mentality changes and the volume of Hispanics migrating to the US decreases drastically, the animosity towards Hispanic Immigration won't change. It is unrealistic to expect Americans to ever want as many Hispanics in this country like Mexico. Hispanics need to adapt their thinking and value their home countries more...stop trying to come to a country that doesn't want them, there are plenty of countries that don't do that.....

It is unrealistic to expect silicon valley to ever get close to 70% women like nursing. Women need to adapt their thinking and value their kids more...stop competing for jobs that discriminate against them, there are plenty of good jobs like teaching that don't do that. If highly qualified women stop competing with men, the quality of these industries will drop and eventually lose it cachet..

yes - and I support that, but it is disingenuous not to mention that when tons of posters in this thread use the argument that the 5% overall pop/18% at Harvard (that's the Asian numbers) ratio is proof that there isn't Asian discrimination, when jewish concentration/ratio is double.

I believe Harvard is discriminating against Jews. That 20-25% number should be much higher.

Do you really think an alumni interviewer has a better sense of a candidate's personality than a teacher who taught him/her for a year (or perhaps more)? I'm not saying that teacher recommendations might not be biased, but certainly a teacher is likely to comment on a student's personality (is she friendly, mature, responsible, caring, etc.), so I don't think it's fair to say that Harvard admissions officers are basing their personality assessments on nothing. Unless the study takes teacher recommendations into account, then I am unpersuaded by the fact that admissions officers disagree with an alum's recommendation based on a one-off interview.

Would a teacher recommendation state that the student is "like a robot, not friendly, and immature"? One would have to have a pretty high level of responsibility and maturity to get the grades and e.c.s to at least have Admissions look at your application.

I believe Harvard is discriminating against Jews. That 20-25% number should be much higher.

Ashkenazi jews have the highest iq's so yes, the number should be higher.

30% jews (from a 2% population), 35 % Asians (from a 5-7% population), 20% white gentiles (lax bros, crew bros, etc), 15% black and latino is probably the ideal mix.

My asians friends like to say the biggest mistake America every made was teaching Asians how to build cars, trucks, TVs, computers after WWII. The asians laughed at us as they planned to use the knowledge to dominate us in the future.

CalTech and MIT are strictly merit. They are no-nonsense schools and are perceived as such. Harvard, on the other hand, weighs irrelevant factors such as legacy, URM, etc. It's considered "soft" - and not considered on par with CalTech or MIT.

This. You take any CalTech or MIT student and you know you have someone special who is intellectually capable. There are so many backdoors to Harvard, you can't say the same for its students. Harvard is screwing itself by placing stumbling blocks in front of capable Asian students.

I would agree with Caltech, not with MIT. Look at the Asian percentages at both schools. You know MIT is looking at non academic factors and is trying hard to boost it's sex ratio.

That's the problem with affirmative action policies. Some folks will always question (and some will outright assume) if you got in then it was just because of the color of your skin. Some probably think the same about rich white kids -- think Bush and the Trumps.

No one would ever wonder if the Asian American Harvard grad had subpar tests scores/grades/e.c's like some might do with URM and rich kids.
