How Harvard discriminates against Asian Americans in college admissions

Such a problem .... if you can't go to Harvard ... go to Yale.

Seriously, once admitted to college (on whatever basis — how do you know that white doctor didn’t get in because he was a jock or a legacy?), people have to graduate with good grades to get into med school. And then they have to graduate from med school to become doctors. They have multiyear residencies before licensure. Many then do fellowships in specific practice areas and/or get board-certified as well. Both patients and other doctors recommend or affiliate with (or sue or report or discipline) physicians based on their experiences working with them. All of this information exists and much of it is easily accessible to prospective patients.

But none of that matters because once you know Harvard College has a race-conscious admissions process then no black doctor can be trusted to be qualified and, to be safe, you better stick with an Asian or white doctor. Incroyable!

DP you do realize that most Fortune 500 companies have explicit targets for URM hires that they can never meet. Which means that AA and it’s impacr extends beyond college campuses.

Yep. This. My Ivy bound URM kid is already been tagged by a bunch of top companies. People on here want to think affirmative action hurts URM students, quite the opposite folks. Hahahaha.

It's clear folks have no idea of what goes on at the tippy top schools or tippy top companies.

Do Asian schools that have almost homogeneous student applicants base admissions solely on grades?

Yes, do they ever reject students with high grades in favor of someone who has a more interesting biography with lower grades? Regardless of how they define "interesting".

No Asians in Hamilton play. Guess a lawsuit is brewing

I can talk to Universities in India. They will laugh you off the campus if you claim you deserve a seat because you are more "interesting". All based on grades.

They do have a big "quota" for what are considered "backward" people - the traditionally lower castes. However, much like here the system is now gamed where everyone other than the Brahmins claim "backwardness" in some shape or form and get in.

AFAIK, China, Singapore, Europe all base admissions on academic merit, not some criteria someone dreams up to keep out, say Jews or Asians.

OK, so you are saying that in India, medical school admissions are based solely on grades? Anyone can get in if their grades are high enough? No interview?

In a country where only tests matter, I guess we shouldn’t be surprised that this sort of thing is so common: https://www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/world/2018/apr/03/india-school-exam-season-cheating-mafia-

A “cheating mafia”??

The true mafia here is Harvard and its adminstrators, constantly asking for free money from the public - and then turning around to spit on the public with its story that it's a private institution that does not answer to the public.

Yes, only marks in various exams matter. And your caste is considered alongside your marks.

Wow. So a person could be a real sociopath and get into med school? Come to think of it, I know of many doctors from overseas who are people who put the dollar ahead of their patients. Also, I have noticed that they are seldom well rounded. Like few play instruments, or have childhood hobbies. Sad.

The original Eliza, Phillipa Soo, was the daughter of a Chinese-American father and European mother.

Your comment shows you didn't see the play.

You probably know everything there's to know about the Kardashians, Kanye West, Prince Harry - everything but the color of their poop this morning..
