How Harvard discriminates against Asian Americans in college admissions

For everyone who always argue that asians have a harder time getting into top schools because all they have are high gpa's and test scores:

The group said its expert found that Asian-American applicants are "significantly stronger than all other racial groups in academic performance.They also perform very well in non-academic categories and have higher extracurricular scores than any other racial group." Their personal ratings were relatively low, especially among admissions officers who hadn't met them. Alumni interviewers who had met these prospective students gave them top personal ratings.

The memo filed with the court said Harvard's own internal investigation in 2013 concluded that its admissions system was biased against Asian Americans. But instead of addressing the problem, "Harvard killed the investigation and buried the reports."

This is why I don't think AA proponents can be so confident that Kennedy would side with them like he did under Fisher.

I think if this case makes it to SCOTUS, it will force a lot of changes (not saying AA will be dropped). I think it will be a catalyst to use SES based AA

Fisher was the first time Kennedy leaned towards supporting AA...and that only in the narrowest sense.

yes - and I support that, but it is disingenuous not to mention that when tons of posters in this thread use the argument that the 5% overall pop/18% at Harvard (that's the Asian numbers) ratio is proof that there isn't Asian discrimination, when jewish concentration/ratio is double.

Asians are like lemming when it comes to education, they follow the herd, and it has ingrained in them that the Ivies are desirable and brag-worthy. Until this mentality changes and the volume of Asian applications decreases drastically, the Asian admission yield stats won't change. It is unrealistic to expect Harvards student body to ever get close to 70% Asians like TJ. Asian families needs adapt their thinking and value their kids more...stop applying to a school that discriminate against them, there are plenty of good schools that don't do that. If highly qualified Asian application volume drops, the quality of the school's applicant pool will drop also and eventually lose it cachet...

Fisher was the first time Kennedy leaned towards supporting AA...and that only in the narrowest sense.

He didn’t just lean toward it, he, er, voted to uphold it, and it wasn’t narrow. So dream on. AA is here to stay until it could, maybe, sunset, per O’Connor, J. But that observation of hers was mere dicta.

BTW, I'm Asian and I have kids that attended TJ and another that declined acceptance and stayed at base school...
