He should pay for it. He made this mess, he should pay for it.

100%

Also, they need to drop charges on the folks they arrested. A properly applied sealant coating shouldn't be able to just be pulled up by someone with their bare hands. It's clear that it's separating on its own. I hope the people who got arrested sue Trump for false arrest and defamation, given his unhinged attacks calling them "radical lunatics" and falsely accusing them of vandalism.

Is everyone conveniently forgetting about the carved 86 47 into the bottom of the reflecting pool? You speak of vandalism as if it didn’t happen, rolling to your own “isms”.

You are conflating two different incidents. Nobody carved 86 47 into the reflecting pool. It was imprinted in grass.

You are correct - my bad. Wrong location, right sentiment. Corrosive chemicals were used to imprint 86 47 into the grass by deranged individual(s). Vandalization occurred, did it not?

In the grass, yes. I don’t think they’ve determined what was used yet, though. Nevertheless, we’re talking about the pool now, not the grass.

Stands to reason if there are deranged individuals who vandalize like that, the reflecting pool is fair game as well

It has a known algae problem since its inception, I have pictures of it with green water in 2016, the area is under 24/7 video surveillance, and it was painted dark blue (which will heat it making known algae problem even worse), not allowed sufficient time to cure, and then had NPS dumping peroxide in it!

You are an absolute idiot if you believe it was vandalized. I mean it. An idiot.

Furthermore, arresting people from pulling paint chips out of it is some authoritarian BS. I once pulled a floating plastic water bottle out of it that fell in and I didn't like seeing litter floating. Guess I am a felon too??

There is no evidence that corrosive chemicals were used. Whoever did it has not been identified so we don't know if they were deranged or not. You are having a very difficult time sticking to facts.

Cherry pick much? The markings are there. Anyone willing to do this is not the hero you think the are

Anyone having people arrested with felony charges for pulling paint chip litter out of the reflecting pool is not any kind of hero to Americans

Why do you want blue paint chip litter everywhere?

It's potentially killing the ducks too. People picking this stuff out of the pool are protecting wildlife.

Lincoln's ghost did it. He's had enough of Trump vandalizing DC.

Well it turned out to be pretty cheap minus the cost of peroxide!

equating some markings in grass with the devastation being wrought on the ellipse, mall, white house, kenedy center, institute for peace and reflecting pool is not a horse you want to try to ride.

I suggest you look up other incidents of vandalism in DC, particularly of the Lincoln steps.

Like the Capitol on January 6? All of those vandals were pardoned.

To all claims of vandalism:

I refer you to humans smearing their feces in the halls of Congress on Jan 6.

If you do not acknowledge that these offenders deserved jail time and should not have been pardoned...

... we are not discussing any other sort of vandalism.

Also the history of algae and other bioburden in the reflecting pool goes back a long time.

Just some old articles and photos for example

2017 with a large scale duck die off (this time due to a parasite)

More people have been arrested for touching the green algae than touching kids.

Think about that. Sickening!

I do not think it was vandalized re: algae. I do believe that some of the crazies that carve 86 47 into grass and vandalizing statues and the Lincoln steps could go after the reflecting pool.

Malignant narcissists cannot bear to face their own failures. Hence the tarps over the front of the Kennedy Center. The Orange Dude must cover up all of his failures and blame others for his own corrupt, incompetent acts.

Anyone who's ever owned a pond or a pool knew right from the get-go that painting the bottom of the reflecting pool with dark blue paint was never going to achieve a blue pool! If any paint (and it would have had to be the correct paint and tests would have to have been performed which would take weeks if not months) were to be applied, it would have to be a shade of white in order to create a blue pool.

The idiots who accepted $15 million in grift to spray paint the pool with some sort of completely inappropriate latex house paint either knew it wasn't going to work, or simply didn't care as long as they could pocket their money. But they took their orders from the demento orange chief, who believes he is the smartest "genius" in the universe about everything, including how to paint pools.

Who are the Park Police who are arresting people for touching the water in the reflecting pool? Are they ICE/MAGA/J6 recruits? I've always found the Park Police to be nice people. It surprises me they'd participate in such nonsense. The cases will be thrown out, of course.

Atlantic Industrial Coatings in Virginia - take a look at their website right now. The opening page now says:The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool
×

Atlantic Industrial Coatings in conjunction with the US Park Service has identified some areas in the Reflecting Pool that require repairs. These areas are a very small part of the massive 7 acre project, and do not indicate a failure of the liner.

These repairs can not be made until the pool is drained. As soon as its feasible for the Park, the pool will be drained and AIC will be back to make those needed repairs as part of the warranty.

Wow! 10 weeks ago yesterday we got a phone call asking if we would like to do a special project with Rhino Linings and Creative Polymers. Thanks for making that call Todd Brown and Rhino Linings!

Today as we watch the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool fill up we reflect on our great nation and the honor it is to serve her! A huge thank you to Eddie Wood, Alex Starkey, Richard Richard T Jones, Marcus Logan Jr. and the other 30+ new friends for making this an outstanding success!!

But ALL the credit goes to Our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ!! Thank you!!
