Well, the whole thing is both a massive waste of taxpayer money and a failure. Who didn't see it coming, really. Trump is supposedly all concerned about DC looking great for the 250th anniversary of the country, but he's crapped all over the place. Remember the video of him dumping feces on protestors? No. I live in the area. One thing about people in DC, they love the city and how beautiful it is. Everyone follows instagram accounts that show off DCs beauty, gorgeous sunsets, and more. Nobody batted an eye during his first administration when the Jefferson was under construction. And folks here know that the algae is a long term issue.

It is because of Trump's arrogant, braggart, bombastic, conceited, narcissistic personality that people are laughing, sadly, and out of frustration. He is the worst combination of incompetent and full of himself and HE made the big deal of fixing it better than anyone, then did not actually put in place any plan to fix the algae problem. HE is the one who made the idiotic decision to paint it blue, exacerbating the algae issue, and rushing the job so that the paint did not cure. And it is HIS administration arresting people just for touching the failed paint while they lie about "vandalism." So when an idiot effs up in an obvious way, yes we all appreciate his embarrassment.

In DC, the irony is that we had a beautiful city, and it is like some meth head renters moved in, bragged loudly about fixing it up, then trashed the place. What else can we do, but laugh? Better than crying?

NYT with the "insider info" that the supposed knife tear was not in the liner, but in foam of the expansion joints.
