They're like elite boarding schools, I'm sure there is good learning and a small but mighty network of alums, but it really doesn't amount to much. The reality is most adults in the US and world has never heard of any of these tiny lacs.

Nobody in the real world has heard of Kiton or Cucinelli either, it doesn’t stop the UHNW from buying them while the general public thinks Kate Spade is a top designer brand.

The only people that care about these schools are the students that went to them and the parents that paid for it.

These rear window SUV stickers have no cachet in the eyes of 99.9% of the population.

"The only people that care about these schools are the students that went to them, the parents that paid for them, the grad schools that admit them in numbers far higher that typical for top Phd programs, the IB's who hire them in per capita numbers greater than half of the Ivies and everyone else, The top consulting companies who do the same, the law schools who admit them at rates for higher than most other top schools, the medical schools who admit a far higher percentage of their applicants than virtually anyone else, the R1 professors who send their kids to SLACs at significantly higher rates than would be expected, and possibly the R1 Distinguished Faculty who write articles for major magazines saying "Elite SLACs are the winners in today's education environment".

Fixed it for you.

It’s not like the hoi polloi know much more about schools like Dartmouth, JHU, or Chicago than LACs like Williams or Amherst. If you’re so desperate to impress your local plumber or Uber driver (and it really does sound like you are), send your kids to either HYPSM or a university that is good at ball sports.

Again, these are schools most people have never heard of, so the results you’re peacocking about are irrelevant to virtually everyone you meet unless you insist on announcing them repeatedly. I’m glad you’re proud. No one else cares. It’s like wearing a Jaeger-LeCoultre watch. It’s just a watch to most people.

Peacocking? Facts are friendly Karen. You may feel butthurt by what they show but they aren't some kind of conspiracy or out to get you. Your comment says far more about you, and in a very negative way.

Given the easily verified points above it is unfortunate that more people don't know about them, their kids would be better served if they did, especially the kids getting gutted by 'weed out' classes at larger schools.

Things will be just fine if you can stop craving validation that isn’t coming.

DC chose Pomona over an Ivy partly because they hate elitism. Pomona is not considered elite by many. Top notch school, but not elite.
