When the FAFO guy is summoned by the Hasbara boiler room boss, I think of Yaacov from the Last Week Tonight episode highlighting the despicable individuals who settle in the West Bank (by way of Brooklyn or Ukraine or wherever). Literally allergic to the native plants that grow in the region, cannot endure 5 minutes of the sun that crashes down on the region, and certainly couldn’t muster a milligram of blood from the region if his life depended on it - but definitely not lacking in grotesque behavior every step of the way in displacing indigenous people in the most repulsive way possible. FAFO guy is Yaacov … |
| Well....VCU is still withholding the degree of a pro-Palestinian campus protestor. So....students already know that they can't say anything pro-Palestinian (aka outrage against Israel for anything) without risk. Even I myself would not dare say anything in public against Israel lest I be labeled antisemitic. Everyone knows that in the US Israel is viewed as the favorite child and can do no wrong. |
This is pretty cowardly. Anyone with an iota of dignity knows that criticizing a country or government or military doesn't mean you wish harm and hate on an entire religion. If someone wants to label me as "antisemitic" because I think Israel is an American parasite, I don't care. I've also removed vile, truly anti-Semitic posters that white nationalist groups posted in the neighborhood. I know my ethics and values and feel confident about them being solid. There might even be some overlap in the Jewish and Israel Venn diagrams, but they are absolutely not one and the same. |

Know the room. This is America, where we are all from somewhere else. I heard a Palestinian on NPR say, "These people who call themselves Israelis, they're from Germany and Russia and Poland" -- so the f what??? Yes, the country of Israel was created so Jews from all over the world could go there. Guess what, they are Israelis. Just like in America there are people from all over the world, even Palestinian Americans and Israeli Americans. So when you talk like that to Americans you sound like f'ing dreck. You just show the world why people can't relate to you or your cause. |
' Israel is our ally. The Palestinians would be just as bad as the Israelis if they had the fire power, and worse because they are terrorists. That is clear. So we might as well be on the side of our own ally. Where is the problem in that thinking? Don't pretend the choice is between evil Israel and innocent Palestine because that's crap. |
A country that infiltrates your government is not your friend. |

Why are you surprised? Israelis are not a monolithic group--there are plenty of Israelis who abhor what Netanyahu has been doing to Gaza. This Israeli genocide scholar wrote last week why he thought Israel's actions constitute genocide. He's former IDF and from a zionist home. https://www.nytimes.com/2025/07/23/opinion/israel-gaza-genocide-scholar-response.html |

Trump, breaking with Netanyahu, acknowledges ‘real starvation’ in Gaza
https://www.politico.com/news/2025/07/28/trump-break-netanyahu-gaza-starvation-00479739 The president promises the U.S. will work with Europe to get aid to Gaza amid growing humanitarian crisis. |
There are lots of Israelis who do not support what is going on. But sadly, a majority are overwhelmingly supportive. A majority would even rather they all be outright killed, as opposed to ethnically cleaned. |

The American Jewish community is indeed expressing a need for the situation in Gaza to be taken seriously and addressed immediately. The rabbis of the Conservative movement and the Reform movement have issued public statements explicitly naming the starvation in Gaza and calling for action.
I hesitated to share this, because the anti-Jewish sentiment on DCUM is so rabid right now, and I know this won't move the needle much because both statements affirm Israel's right to exist. But the actual truth, as opposed to the rhetoric coming from people who are outside our community, is that most American Jews don't support the current and recent actions of the Netanyahu government and seeing these statements has been important to many of us. https://www.rabbinicalassembly.org/story/statement-humanitarian-aid-gaza-and-freeing-hostages?utm_source=cio https://urj.org/press-room/reform-movement-statement-starvation-gaza |
Thank you for sharing. Indeed, the American Jews I know are just as horrified by what is happening in Gaza, if not more. |
