Billionaire heiress abducted during her Friday morning run in Memphis

Husband paid the guy to do it. Just like that guy in Boston in the 80s

You mean right after he realized she didn't have a wallet with cash and ATM? Another question is -- did he just randomly get this itch, did someone pay him to do it, or has he been doing this since he got out of prison two years ago? Didn't Jesse Matthews in Charlottesville allegedly get tied to a couple of other missing young ladies after they found the UVA student's body? Scary.

Right. I commented above that the crime does not appear to be directly motivated by money, IF the perp considered that a runner would not likely have a wallet, ID, ATM card, or cash with them, and obviously could not be car-jacked. The motivation would appear to be different from the motivation for his kidnapping crime 20 years ago, though we don't know what would have happened to that kidnapped lawyer had he not been able to call for help from security. He may have been killed. The motivation for this crime would simply appear to be violence, perhaps a sex crime as well. Scary.

She also has kind of vacant look in the eyes that is subtle but I see in a lot of autistic people. It would also explain hyper fixation on running, making unsafe choices like going for a run at 4:30 am and not understanding and following implied WASPy norms/obligations—aka marrying someone outside of her “caste” as one PP put it (gross).

That was my thought as well. On the spectrum, which may explain why she wasn’t swooped up by a high status boy in college. Or SSRIs. Something is off about her exaggerated smile in every photo. And her judgement with the spouse and jogging routine suggests this is a pattern of behavior. Plus being just a pre-k teacher with her credentials and at her age.

Maybe, but if this is the case, this individual will mostly likely eventually tell this to the police in an effort to strike some deal for some leniency. He would have nothing to gain by keeping it quiet if he knows that he is already implicated in the crime.

Her public posts about her marriage are also very off. Beyond oversharing.

Yes, he has tattoos duh /s

He's a self admitted addict. And his job history is sketchy to say the least. I see a lot of reference to his alleged DUIs but I just did a quick Google and don't see anything, so I'm not sure where that's from.

In general, a debutante like this marries a well-to-do lawyer, doctor, or businessman. Not some tattooed military wash out with tattoos all over his hands, arms and legs.

Y’all are tragically uninformed about the prevalence of deadbeats and people with substance use disorders in wealthy Southern families. There’s a crazy Uncle Charles in every family tree down there.

Wow. What a relief to know that doesn't happen in wealthy northern families.

Would also likely mean an airtight prenup enforced by her parents. And if they were headed for divorce, the wife was going to keep all the money and the kids? Or maybe I’ve watched too many Dateline episodes.

What is going on? Sounds like a nasty POS criminal is responsible for this. Does it matter if the husband had tattoos, was or wasn’t employed, or even was or wasn’t an addict. Seems he had nothing to do with this so let’s not tear apart the poor man dealing with an awful situation.

He'll talk eventually, if it comes down to him taking 100% of the blame for something that the spouse hired him to do. (No, we don't have any evidence of this yet.)

Former Memphis resident here. The University of Memphis neighborhood is a nice area. It’s a very suburban like, spread out part of the city where no one walks anywhere. So I would imagine she would feel safe jogging in the early morning. Pretty much have the sidewalks and roads to herself.

I second the earlier poster who says Memphis is very similar to Baltimore. Lots of old money, beautiful neighborhoods/gardens, great restaurants/bar scene, and fun arts and music scene. But poverty and poor education system makes life there really tough for black people.

The rampant violent crimes makes life there really tough for people who don't want to be victims of violent crimes.
