It helps when a small child sneezes or cough and doesn't cover the mouth. I'm sure you've never worked in a school. |
I think you're a piece of work-maybe Brabrand cares about the safety of children. You'd be the first to sue if your child was hurt due to FCPS not calling a snow day correctly. Put a sock in it. |
Fairfax today:
New case rate 7-day ave: 11 per 100k people Percent positivity: 5.7% |
Oh well, guess I don't get to be in the cool kids group. |
Thanks for sharing. Am I then correct in my understanding that we need to get to less than 50 positives/day in all of FFX county's population to meet FCPS's mask removal guidelines? And we're at about 110? |
. They sneeze in the cloth mask? And continue wearing it? |
My kid reported that kids in her class hated coughing into masks and so would pull the mask down to cough and still not cover the mouth. Realistically who wants a gross phlegmatic mask? The poor teacher was so frustrated. And that was the moment, as a nasty non-Covid cold spread via those uncovered coughs, I lost my last shred of faith in mask mandates. Masks theoretically work. Mandates lead to the behavior above. |

In order to meet the arbitrary standard of CDC, we'd have to be at a seven day average of 7 cases per day per 100k people. I think we can get to that if we have about 80 actual cases per day in the county. |
I think we can have about 80 total per day. 49 per 100k per 7 days. So that is 7 per day per 100k. There are 1.15 million people in fairfax. 7x11.5= 80.5 per day. We would need to meet this averaged over 7 days. |
I suppose there's this. But masking is definitely not a cult! “I see these people just not wearing a mask, or wearing one pulled down, like, under their chin,” said Swan, “and my brain just immediately goes, ‘That person does not share the same ideals as me. We won’t get along.’ ” She added: “They may not be a bad person. They may just be thinking the same things as their parents.” https://www.washingtonpost.com/education/2022/02/18/virginia-masking-student-voices/ |
This is helpful, thank you! |
Says the girl that is thinking the same thing as her parents. |
Yes, transmission level is based on cumulative case counts not average. So add the daily case county and then convert to /100000. Basically, the county has to have less than 70 cases/ per day for 7 days straight. It's still weeks or months away before we are in moderate. |
This seems overly restrictive in a heavily vaccinated region like ours. Will the CDC be adjusting the definitions of low, moderate, high, etc. in this week's anticipated announcement? I know no one knows for sure, just curious what people think. |
