Why would the school board care what some random parent has to say?

You mean TMac? There’s an in-depth story on why he’s losing, including his education policy or lack thereof, here:

In three surveys released this week, Youngkin had 7- , 22- and 18-point leads among independents.

Terry McAuliffe is perpetual slime. He's done every cheat trick in the book, and then some. Just disgusting. Honest Democrats are ashamed of his ongoing behavior.

What funding is he planning to cut in order to pay for increased education funding while also slashing state tax revenues? I can’t find any explanation from the Youngkin campaign of how that math is supposed to work.

Grow the economy and you get more revenue. Eliminate wasteful spending.

If Democrats really care about equity they will vote for McAuliffe. He’s serious about taking heat off local school boards by requiring boundary changes to get the right amount of socioeconomic and racial integration in schools. They will have to comply or accreditation and state funding goes bye-bye.

He is even going to make sure that affordable housing gets built where there is none now to help with this.

It’s bold, actually historic and when you read his plan you see he is serious!

These are all the reasons many Virginians will NOT vote for McAuliffe.

"Taking the heat off school boards" -- like the Loudoun County board that covered up and lied about a rape?

"Right amount of integration" -- Um, who decides what the "right amount" is? Do you recall the history of mandatory busing in this country?

The "you must comply" tone that the McAuliffe campaign has used throughout his campaign, particularly when talking to parents, is precisely what is most offensive to many voters.

To say nothing of this week's white supremacist cosplay stunt. . . .

One, virgin is in excellent shape financially. Why on earth would we mess without by slashing fairly low taxes?

Two, show me the wasteful downing in the Commonwealth. This is such a rote, automatic answer without any thought behind it.

Exactly. PP, please tell us where in McAuliffe's McLean neighborhood is he planning to build affordable housing? No where. Stop believing Terry's lies.

It didn’t happen for Biden in 2020. Didn’t happen during the California recall. And now it’s not happening for McAulliffe.

I have no desire to attend a rally while my toddler is still unvaccinated. Meanwhile, I quietly make my donations around the country and cast my vote locally.

Keep thinking that rally size means anything. All it tells me is that those not worried about a pandemic support Youngkin. No shocker there.

To be fair, they could be fully vaccinated. However, yes, Biden's campaign showed that a candidate (at least a Dem one) does not need to leave their house to effectively campaign and win an election. Another problem I see is that the pictures show lots of middle aged white people showing up for Youngkin. There's a shocker.

“Grow the economy” takes years, and is heavily affected by forces completely outside the governor’s control. Youngkin won’t be able to count on increased revenue from this, especially not in the first couple years.

As for “wasteful spending,” that’s exactly the question. What does Youngkin view as wasteful and therefore would plan to cut? He hasn’t explained that yet, perhaps because the answer would be very unpalatable to voters.

I'm not really seeing the potency of that issue. Loudoun is such a weird, sad place, but the rest of the country isn't having these issues.

Define affordable housing.

Do you mean owner-occupied homes, which build generational wealth for historically disadvantaged poor and minorities -or- do you mean rentals, which keep poor and minorities owning nothing, drag down neighboring SFH values, are generally eyesores, and just further enrich filthy rich financiers and RE conglomerates who own them e.g. Kushner family?

Loudoun is quickly turning bluish-purple, and a lot of the conservatives out there are absolutely enraged about it. That’s why you see the county electing increasing numbers of democrats at the same time you get these crazier and crazier Republican protests.
