When I was in college 20 years ago, I went to both the College Democrats and College Republicans meetings for a while.

The College Republican women were uniformly tall, thin and blond and very good looking.

The College Republican men were uniformly golfers.

The College Republicans had a segment of incredibly brilliant intellectually conservative thinkers who seemed bemused by the rest of us. For all practical purposes they existed on a different milieu than the rest of us. I found them the most intellectually honest and insightful people of all.

The College Democrats were more diverse, yes, and more unkempt and wilder and incoherent at times.

I found both groups entertaining.
