How can you tell if someone is conservative?

This is the attitude people should have. Our nation would be in much better shape.

Haha. I don't follow anyone except Bernie Sanders. And I only do it because my MIL is a huge supporter and kept asking me to like his page.

+1 this is me exactly

I only discuss politics with conservative friends/family.

I go even further. I parrot back the same leftist idiot platitudes, but turned up to 11. Many of my libiot acquaintances think I’m a full-on Marxist, and I chide them for being borderline conservatives.

I voted for Trump three times. They never suspect it. Morons.

Yup. Trumphumpers are POS liars. No surprise here.

Actually, what you are hearing here is that liberals have become so intolerant of other views that tipping one’s hand to a conservative viewpoint could cost a job, play dates, whatever. The new mcarthyism. Agree with me or you’ll be labeled a racist and lose everything.

Worse. A trumper.

The left is trying to fire/ruin anyone with any different view. It’s no wonder people feel the need to hide. I have voted Democrat until recently but will vote Youngkin for governor. I’ve HAD IT with the liberal intolerance. If I don’t want to put she/her on my email, it means I’m a thoughtful person with a different reasonable opinion. I’m tired of any tiny refusal to tow an increasingly nutty line being labeled “trumper” or “racist”. I’m not going to express these thoughts anywhere but at the ballot box. That’s the beauty of democracy!

Wrong. It’s not a “different view”. It choosing a different reality. Believing The Big Lie or whatever other lies the GOP tries to dish out - without question.

You are proving the point. Any tiny difference of opinion renders you a senseless trumper moron. Actually, I’m a very well educated person who happens to disagree with the notion that I’m a “birthing person” rather than a mother, for example. But carry on with your hateful hatred on any diversity of opinion.

It’s not a “tiny difference of opinion” FFS.

Who won the 2020 election?

Do you think VA should make it easier for partisans to overthrow election results without any evidence? That is the GOP plan.

You are a loon. The issue is that democrats will not tolerate any tiny difference of opinion. Either you put your pronouns on your email or you are a bigot. Either you pretend rioting didn’t happen or you are a racist. Ironically, republicans are becoming the party of tolerance - there is no desire to get you fired or harm your family if you aren’t in lockstep agreement.

I am a D with a ton of D friends and literally I don’t know *anyone* pushing any of that. A few friends in academia do include pronouns but I’ve never heard anyone mention whether people have them or not - I don’t. People acknowledge there was some violence at the protests. I have a few transgender people in my life. Several gay people in my family. Very LGBTQ+. Literally no one is pushing “birthing people”.

Outside of Twitter (faux) outrage, these aren’t *real* issues for *real* people.

The big hot topics for most Ds *actually* are:
Voter suppression (The Big Lie)
Women’s rights
LGBTQ+ rights

Seems like you’re focusing on the wedge issues that the GOP is pushing. Not reality.

Big government loving, progressive D here who doesn’t really care what other people consensually do with their bodies. I did hear an interview on NPR the other day where the interviewee never referred to women, but birthing people, about some sort of women’s health bill/initiative. I just rolled my eyes and moved along with my day. I’m only thinking about it now because MAGA over here is so riled up by the idea. I think you can choose to politely ignore it.

Yup. Someone used the phrase on a news story and we all knew what it meant.

No one is *forcing* anyone to use this inclusive language.

It’s faux outrage.

Wow. So tone deaf. Posters have been trying to explain to you that they don't watch Fox News or read Brietbart, they don't consider themselves Republican but vote for them. They don't buy into whatever lies you are talking about. They don't agree with identity politics, virtue signaling, open borders, etc. Please try to understand their point of view.

Most people are the same. They want a roof over their heads, good schools for their kids, health care, and a job or other daily activity that brings some meaning to their lives.

The rest is how they think we should all get there. And yes, each side claims the other side is harmful and damaging. But if you try to keep an open mind and actually listen to the "whys" of people's arguments, you'll find that the best solutions take both sides into account. We haven't done much of that in the past 20 years; I get it. And that's why we are all a mess.

Please start listening to people with different view points. Not the catch phrases everyone repeats, but why those catch phrases matter to people.

Lol. Why do you have to hide away? That is pathetic.

Oooh that dig would really hurt, if we cared at all what you thought.
This is why we keep quiet. No one wants to hear/deal with you.

Awwwwww. Too bad covid exposed your champion monster for what he is. You don't want anyone to know you support typhoid trump. Especially your ffamiky and friends and neighbors that have suffered.

My uncle thinks the “libs” paid a company to change votes.

My friends H believes Obama is an agent for a foreign country.

My friend thinks the Democrats are going to seize all small businesses and have the govt run them.

Don't ask about politicians. Ask about policies.

Not shocked. That arrogant jackass from queens (dime a dozen in queens..not special) actually won the presidency. We are well aware how many trump supporters are out there all around. And they won't even cop to it! Bunch of cowards.

In any case...that is why 2020 was almost exclusively about having that never happen again as will be the case in 2024.

I don’t ask them anything. They feel compelled to “just let me know”.

Also seizing small businesses is a policy they think Dems will enforce.

Other policies … they think women should carry babies with no heart/lungs full term at let it die upon birth, they think that gay people should not marry/adopt/or go to church.

One family member told me people with PTSD should not receive treatment because you can’t fix weakness.

One calls my adopted niece that China baby. We call her Lauren.

In a pandemic, politics intersects with daily life all day so keep it here. Knowing someone's politics can be important information.

This ^. There is a strange and scary intolerance going around where any legitimate policy disagreement is called racism, etc.
