Why should someone be discreet about another families decision? Especially if that decision affects more than just them? I’d keep it quiet if it concerned my kid, but I don’t think the community has a responsibility to keep my secrets, secret. |
Ask how that worked out for BLC 2027 and I think you will be surprised. Capital will take the best players. They do not have an allegiance to anyone and that is a good thing. |

You have a point |
| We won’t tell anyone what happens with our daughter this week until we want everyone to know, others should do the same. |
By definition that's what everyone does every year. |
No, for the AS and AA tryouts we heard a ton of rumors on who did and didn’t make it before the girls would have wanted others to know and as some girls were still deciding which team to select. After that I realized my daughter and her friends were part of the problem and we talked about not being as gossipy during tryout season |
Are you sure that’s the story. If I recall, BLC was ranked 7th at the end of the year. Now they are 15th. Didn’t some of the top players go to Baltimore clubs? You would expect capital to be ranked higher than BLC going into the high school years if the team selects the best players. Or were the players that went to Baltimore teams what made BLC so good? |
Players have to make a decision the next day and sign the contract. I’m not sure how a player who’s accepted on Capital can wait till the July tryouts to make a decision between Capital and a Baltimore team with that timeline. |
We’ve been having the same conversation in our house. If DD makes cap blue we accept the spot and are fine, if it’s orange we would like to do all of the other 2030 tryouts because there are likely better options but then we give up our orange spot and risk being shut out entirely. We are a BLC family but our DD is not one of their top players. What is everyone else thinking here? |
I’m being candid and don’t mean to offend you, but if she doesn’t make Blue, her chances of landing on a Maryland team above Orange are very limited. If she is offered an Orange spot, she should take it. The top Maryland teams may make room for an exceptional player, but someone who is not among the best on BLC likely would not fall into that category. |
Where are you hoping she’d go? |
| IMO heros white and mnd red are better options than cap orange. If you willing to drive to Baltimore, there's several options. |
Our family is in a similar situation. If Capital is truly the best players in the DC area, my thinking is that Capital Orange will be a great team. It’s entirely possible they are a top 20-30 team. I’d rather take an Orange spot now than wait for all the Baltimore tryouts. Baltimore A teams will only take the top 1-2 players from DC area teams. I don’t like the risk that comes from passing up the Capital spot. The frustration I feel with this situation is mostly focused on the existence of a HS only team that causes this chaos for everyone. Does this exist in any other area? |
MDDC, Hero’s white, MD Red, YJ DMV, lots of other options open up in July. Hard to say which of these is better than Capital Orange given we won’t know who else is on the roster anywhere |
