No one thinks Richmond is in the same league with Oberlin or Kenyon. I applied to Kenyon. Didn’t get in. Never would have considered Richmond.

The rankings are meaningless.

No one who cites “rankings” is being serious. If that’s how you select your school god help you.

The only way to "manipulate," for instance, graduation rate, retention rate, and per-student endowment, three of USNWR's weightiest metrics, is to retain more students, graduate more students, and have more money. All of which directly speak to the quality of education and the student experience. It isn't just shuffling numbers on a spreadsheet.

You obviously are totally clueless about methodology. What are they measuring? Also, the rankings are all over the place. Why one over the other? We all know what Richmond is.

What do you mean what are they measuring? I just named three major objective and quantifiable factors. None of which can be easily gamed or manipulated.

Those rankings make total sense, especially when you look at outcomes, which is the most important factor. The only place Oberlin should rank higher than Richmond is on the woke list.[/quote]


Richmond does not rank especially well in “outcomes”. Payscale lists it as being very low for starting and mid career salaries, which is concerning given that it’s so close to the DMV. High cost areas = high salaries. Not so for Richmond.

It also doesn’t do well when it comes to sending kids to elite law schools and med school. The data is out there. I will post it if you want. I’d suggest you find it.

I’ve got no dog in this fight. But Richmond has always struck me as a very strange school. Not well known. Not sure about academics. Suspect they are kind of suspect. Kids seem entitled. No thanks. I will look elsewhere.
