University of Richmond thoughts

Sorry, meant to say reconciling how you described her interests and where she applied.

This was my daughter’s reaction as well. Very pretty. But she didn’t like the very southern, dress to impress vibe. Among the girls anyway.

Georgia Tech! That’s an impressive admit.

OP: so far Villanova, Tulane, Georgia Tech, st Olaf. Deferred ND and Georgetown. We visited when no students around. Pretty campus but hard to get the vibe. Just worried as she is not a sorority type. Thought she'd fit in better at higher ranked school but it's looking like even with good stats/ECs not to be this year.

Lots of great acceptances and options. Good luck to her deciding!

Lacks walkable stores/restaurants. Hence the robust shuttle. Would need a car. You have to go down by vcu to get really outdoor stuff like parks, canoeing, hiking trails.

We felt the same way about Wake Forest but it's many of my kid's friends' dream school. You either like this vibe or you don't!

Our best friend has a kid at Wake and loves it. Close community and great education. Also very close with professors and got to work on some research as a freshman. I also hear great things about Richmond and we have considered that school as well.

Why did she even apply if she (and you) don't know what it is?

So your DD is a slob who prefers to wear PJs to class. Got it.

I'm having the same reaction! St. Olaf seems best-fit based on the description, but I feel like I must be missing something given the other schools on the table.

Aw, my friend. Be careful of that inner judge. The person it's most likely to attack, and most frequently, is you.

I have one at St. Olaf, very happy with the vibe there and the campus is so beautiful. Worth a visit if you've not been.

Not OP. I don't want to hijack this post, but if I started a spin-off post, would you say more? DD accepted, trying to arrange a visit. I think she'll love?

Same to the PP who made the judgmental comment about Southern girls who like to dress for class, right?!

Thank you saying this because the attacks girls who like to dress is getting old.

Preppy sporty and not so much band types on campus. I would go visit so you can see the type of kids that go there.
