That was my initial thought. But while $40,000 may seem kind of trivial to some of us, it may not be to him, especially if there is a substance abuse problem (and I have no idea if there was). I'm guessing that if you need money and you're a sociopath (which he clearly is) and you're not thinking long term, then this may have seemed to be a reasonable course of action, horrific as it is. Sooner or later this guy will be caught and he will get justice either here or in the afterlife.

He's been caught.

Great news. Kudos to MPD and everyone involved

He has a long record but mostly for making extreme threats but not actually following through on the threats. So he was ordered to stay away from the people he had threatened, but was not locked up.

He wasn't locked up because of reasons I don't know (leniency?) but I call his history one of violent threats. A 2 foot long machete?!

He's from the Caribbean, machetes are common. We called them a cutlass in my country. They're commonly used for cutting the tall grasses.

This crime was personal, very personal it seems.

^ forgot to mention he's been arrested in NE DC.

I'm so sorry for your loss. How horrific.

US Marshalls tracked him and apprehended him and 5 others. Marshalls tracked him up to NY area on Tuesday, and the NY area officers barely missed him on Wednesday night.

They have been turned over to DC police.

I just watched the CNN video of his arrest. He is big and intimidating. Those poor people!

Daron Wint's brother and one other man were also arrested along with Wint. Given the brother's record, it would not be surprising if he and Wint committed this crime together.

So shocked to hear that one of his scumbag Brothers was involved. I wonder if it was the rapist.

40k is a lot of money. People are killed over much less.

Too bad they no longer have prison chain gangs/hard labor.

I am with you on this one.

Look how many people on this forum appear to have no idea how hard it is to raise cash quickly? It seems obvious perps thought they would get more -- either assumed huge amount of cash in house or that someone with "a million dollars in the bank" can withdraw it on the spot or same day in cash. I am not sure why people are having difficulty with this logic.

I agree, this seems a bit suspect. Perhaps this was a professional hit and they paid him to be the fall guy.

That lawyer is on CNN. Someone needs to get him a muzzle.

How dare he say "the pizza crust was found outside and the murder took place inside the home"

All he keeps saying is Daron has no convictions. He desperately wants camera time. I'm turning.
