If it's tacky, then so was Prince Charles', and he's the next King.

Charles didn't do Oprah.

Charles did worse. He did an interview highlighting his own infidelity on the 25th anniversary of becoming Prince of Wales. Then released it to the public with pride.

https://www.nytimes.com/1994/06/30/world/prince-charles-in-tv-documentary-admits-to-infidelity.html
An effort to paint a more human and appealing portrait of the Prince of Wales appeared to backfire tonight when, in the course of a two-and-a-half-hour television documentary, the heir to the British throne admitted that he had committed adultery.
...
The Sun set up a special "You the Jury" telephone poll and reported today that two-thirds of the callers felt the Prince's behavior made him unfit to be King.

It’s ALL tacky. But the Sussexes have an air of thinking theirs doesn’t stink. But it does.

There's no way to know that unless the Sussex release tax returns. As someone with some knowledge of the industry I'll just say this -

- Meghan's two books with her as the front-runner hit the New York Times Bestsellers list both times (The Grenfell Cookbook and The Bench)
- They have a proven draw that listens to, watches, and reads anything they put out (the numbers for the CBS special was only second to the SuperBowl)
- They have the best representation money can buy and a built-in vociferous market (of fans and haters - half the time they sell out in the UK just because the tabloids who can't stand them have half a dozen articles out about anything they do within hours)

Essentially they are built-in gold mines no matter what. The closest I could find with both the name recognition and the market power without being a reality tv star is a POTUS. But its a bit different from say a former President even because they are writing on topics (whether you like it or not) that interest people, have scandal, and intrigue. All of which means they can demand their price.

Her children’s book is a dud, you can tell by the Amazon sales rank #, barely selling 500 copies a month 6 weeks after it’s been released.

Eh. I remember a handful of years ago when there was no bigger female star in the world than Angelina Jolie, and with Pitt, together they were the ultimate power couple -- no couple could be more beautiful, more successful, etc etc.

Things can change pretty fast.

Did you have a point? Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt are so powerful they just pick a project or produce Oscar-winning films. Even separated he's worth $300 million and she's worth $120 million.

They're a good example. Jolie is flat broke and her new "comeback" movie was a flop.

Well he is a veteran so he did more than the other Royals in his age group. Being in combat twice could definitely fill a book.

You think Angelina Jolie the highest paid film actress of the 2000s in Hollywood is broke?

Children’s books, especially picture books, do their highest sales via hard copies in-store. Try again.

Yep. Like a lot of actors, she spends a lot of money. She's spent all of her money and has been selling assets. Maybe she just doesn't like them anymore?
Anonymous
Angelina could easily spend 8 million a month.

Megan/Harry want to live the Alisr Hollywood life, so probably want to spend as much.

Angie and Meghan will run out of money soon.

Go Meg and Harry! Wishing them success so they can rise above all the hatred.

Criticism != hatred. Get a dictionary.

It’s not even the money, it’s that the shine on Angelina, especially when she was with Brad, was the most powerful and lucrative PR and tabloid story of the day, and seemed like it would never stop. But it did. No one wants to read stories about her 400th court filing in their child custody fight.
