Seriously? What is wrong with you. This poster was diagnosed with cancer and continues to teach. They did the best they could. How about I hope you are doing well. I am sorry you are going through that. My kid skipped K. We worked with them. Not a big deal with involved parents. Its much harder come middle and high school when parents don't remember the subject matter. |
Its kinda sad no one at home took the time to work with these kids. |
You're an idiot. |
Enough with the name calling. |
17 people died from lightning strikes last year. 600,000 people died of COVID even with mitigation. But sure, the risks are totally similar! You definitely understand statistics. |
Early childhood teachers: you have GOT to separate people hating DL and people hating on you. DL is a joke for ES. For those of you who think your students are doing ‘just fine’, they are not. It’s a mess. Teachers- once you get back to IPL you’ll see that this was a wasted year. I mean/ you already know that. That’s why y’all are clamoring for more money. It was a waste of everyone’s time. Now, let’s move on |
I actually think the parents who enjoyed the pandemic lifestyle for their ES kids are more defensive than the actual teachers who were forced to deliver it. The latter knows it's been a largescale disaster, and the required remediation next year is going to be grueling (and hold back the kids that received supplemental). |
ALL this email tells me is that MCPS did not incentivize its workers enough for them to sign up. NO OFFENSE but an extra $200 is paltry compared to any other working professional field. *Sigh* MCPS needs to have a better incentive, perhaps if they raise it to $300 or $400 people would sign up quickly. This is worrying behavior for the fall. |
A lot of my students speak English as a second language and I know their parents were doing the best that they could to help their children. Students need more thank fake sympathy, they need support |
| Every child that repeats a grade because of the pandemic will essentially lose a year of income, because the later you graduate the later you can start earning money. But nobody cares because that's way into the future at it's not us adults. |
| No one repeats a grade in MCPS, even with failing all classes. They are being aimed to graduate with their cohort (original year of graduation OYG) their entire school career. If they are unprepared for high school classes, they get put in remedial classes, have opportunities for summer school to retake courses, and can participate in “credit recovery” (turning in a minimum amount of work to earn a D in a failed class). Motivated kids and kids with motivated parents will do fine and recover from this year in due course. Other students that may have struggled normally will still struggle, but still have the same supports to finish. |
There are going to be massive disparities that will directly impact economic opportunities down the line. Rich kids will be prepared for college, poor kids (on average) will not. |
And yes, this is already happening, but the pandemic and our failure to provide kids with an adequate education during the pandemic will mean the se disparities but on steroids. That's not *fine". |

My son is in self contained. His regular teacher will also teach him ESY. From the 6 kids in the room the parents pooled together $2,000 as an incentive to incentivize her to take on the extra burden.
Money well spent. |
You must live in DC. That’s not allowed in MCPS. |
