New River Campus?

It's cute how you think that if you say NIMBY enough times you'll somehow persuade people that River's applications for zoning exceptions should be granted.

Why not answer the underlying question? The neighborhood complains that the school would create massive traffic disruptions. But what's the basis for that? Currently Nebraska Ave is only one lane during school pickup hours because the other lane is devoted to parking - and not even resident restricted parking. During drop off, which isn't a "line up and wait" situation there are lights anyway that slow things down.

I don't know what the point is that you're trying to make. Are you suggesting that if Nebraska is one lane at certain hours because DDOT believes there should be public parking, then the volume of traffic during those hours can't be a concern?

I do wonder why River is trying to shoehorn themselves into such a tiny space in such a busy area when there are better properties available EOTP.

Hmmm.

can’t wait to see what kind of an impact the giant wegman’s will have on our little slice of heaven called van ness when it opens too.

River won BZA approval for this plan. Oof.

Any updates? I know they are accepting fourth grade applications, so they are expanding, but did they officially close on the property? When is the planned relocation?

The are renovating part of the current location on MacArthur to accommodate 4th grade, and moving some admin staff to rented commercial space nearby temporarily.

I don’t think they’ve published a timeline yet for the new campus.

Because Rover’s main constituency lives WOTP and will not want to go to the other side. Cross town traffic is 100x worse than east-west traffic. Plus the common view is that it’s not as safe EOTP so parents don’t want to send their kids over there. Such a move would dramatically decrease the schools’ appeal to the families that currently use it.

Because that’s where the monied families are. Direct competition for the people over on the NPS vs. BVR thread. All the same folks.
