I found this doing a search of the address:
https://www.bldup.com/projects/river-school It has a rendering of the buildings. Looks like you can get more information if you pay for it. |

Will they tear down the mansion? It’s pretty historic

I don't think it is that property - that property is a Warren St Address. The property is a Nebraska Street Address. I thought it was the Buchanan Estate? |
| Yes, the house is historic, a new building would be adjacent, and the house would be retained. |
| The mansion is called Underoak - the Buchanan estate of Dow chemical - and it sold for $10M. |
| Why isn’t the old GDS location in play for River school? Seems better suited than a large residential home |
That is a different house. This is the Buchanan Estate: https://spws.homevisit.com/hvid/282561 The River School has it under contract and is seeking a zoning variance for their building plan, but the sale is not final. The plan would renovate the building for offices and administrative use and build another much larger building for classrooms and general school use on Nebraska. |

It can all be found here - and it’s gonna be a hot mess. Appears drop off and dismissal will be roughly the same time as NPS too. The transportation plan is LOL.

curious---why do you think this would be good for the neighborhood? It sounds like it will add a ton of traffic. |
|
Yeah right now MacArthur Blvd is a nightmare during morning rush hour as they take up a lane for carpool cars lined up.
But will be nice for the kids to get more space and a more natural playground. |
I thought DC purchased GDS? |
| Don’t know why they would want to be across from NPS and become part of the daily drop off scrum that is Van Ness/Tenleytown. Lots of nannies doing drop off, I guess. |
| River lost the bid to purchase the old GDS campus. They tried. |
| If River builds there, River and NPS should try to work out a deal with GDS to join their bus routes. More kids using a single bus system is good for everyone and the campuses are close enough to make it work. |
| Anyone know what is going into the old GDS spot? |
