Also that she was hospitalized for anorexia as a teenager and quite obviously still struggles to maintain a healthy weight - that is, heavy enough. Anorexia is notoriously incurable and the most deadly of psychiatric disorders.

The gamut of weirdness Jolie has exhibited over her time in the public eye and the collecting of foreign born adopted children reminds me of Mia Farrow, another unbalanced person who was all about making her breakup from Woody Allen as toxic as possible and making it a lifelong ongoing drama that has damaged their kids and her kids and lots of other people in the collateral damage.

Both of them seem like histrionic personalities, maybe borderline personality disorder is at play. Both of them have messed up their kids in very serious ways by undermining healthy relationships with fathers and other extended family members. Neither is a good mother in my book.

She reminds me of Mia Farrow too. But it's not like Woody Allen is a stand-up guy. I don't know why it's so hard to believe that BOTH halves of an estranged couple can be horrible.

This. Jolie can be flawed and Pitt can be too. A lot of abusive alcoholics and drug abusers come across as “nice people” in public spheres. Pitt sounds like he was not a saint at home. Also, whatever her flaws - and to be clear, I’m no fan - Jolie seems like a dedicated mother and invested in her kids’ wellbeing. As anyone knows, taking a stand against a popular but ultimately abusive partner is an excruciating and lonely ordeal. Brad Pitt may be popular in Hollywood but that doesn’t mean he was a great father or husband.

This x1000. Some of this thread is so uncomfortable to read. (Just a general thought, I'm not coming at anyone.) Yeah, it is lonely, lonely, lonely.

IMO, Jolie's ultra-permissive, ultra-unconventional, and isolative parenting style was abusive. She's an obsessive mother but that's hardly a quality of a good mother.

+1. What other mother on here is lauded for having so many kids? That in an of itself is called abusive, selfish, and demonstrating some type of mental illness.

Also, she specifically told Ann Curry that she wanted like a rainbow of kids or something. As if she were ordering them from a catalog.

And adopting from all over the world so you can have a mini-UN? I'm mean... there's a lot going on there, and none of it good. And at least one of the adoptions ended up being super shady, with the birth mother coming forward and saying she did not want her kid being adopted, and then changing her mind.

And they changed Pax’s name when they adopted him. He was old enough to know what his name was, but they changed it like he was a pound puppy.

For anyone else it's called being a "white savior" but Angelina is just a strong woman. Why the hypocrisy in her case but not for others?

She's gotten a pass for lots of things, including wearing black face for a film role.

Why isn’t Jolie criticized as much as Octomom? Because she’s a rich child breeder/collector instead of a poor one?

As a long time cog in the wheels of family court justice, I take issue with the assertion that women are ignored or disbelieved whenever they raise abuse in family court. There is some of that, but it is not SOP. The uniform best interests standard that most courts in the country follow work pretty well to protect children. (Domestic abuse where the mother is the primary target is a different issue and I won’t muddy the waters by mixing that in because it doesn’t apply here.)

Jolie made claims of abuse that were thoroughly investigated by law enforcement/child protection authorities - and dismissed as unsubstantiated. She’s had ample opportunity to make a case to the mutually agreed upon private judge ruling on their custody settlement - and failed. This is a high conflict divorce with an unstable vindictive mother who is clearly alienating her kids against their father. I’ve seen it lots of times and I know it when I see it.

For the record I’m a card carrying, Women’s Studies degree earning feminist who has worked in domestic violence advocacy for nearly two decades - and came from a home steeped in domestic violence. I’m no men's rights apologist for abusers. But I acknowledge reality, which is that some women lie like crazy in family court, up to and including false allegations of child abuse and child molestation, too. Very sad that such REAL nasty women exist to muddy the waters for the rest of us, but it is plain truth that they do.

Why isn’t Jolie criticized as much as Octomom? Because she’s a rich child breeder/collector instead of a poor one?

If this thread is any evidence, Jolie is criticized, but perhaps in different ways.

Octomom was a woman who, along with her wacko doctor, deliberately made a reckless medical decision and then risked her life and the life of eight fetuses (who had no choice in the matter) to carry the pregnancy to term. And then she publicized the heck out of the whole thing to support herself.

Jolie and Pitt basically shut down the country of Namibia when they had Shiloh to preserve their privacy.

Yes, talk about white colonizers. That was disgusting.

This is one of the stupidest things I've ever heard.

The Namibians were pretty happy about it - lots of attention and revenue from press coming in. They just didn't let the press near the area Jolie and Pitt were staying. Pitt actually seems like a decent guy - we were posted to S. Africa at the time and the Embassy in Windhoek, Namibia told us that Pitt himself called the consular section and asked what they were going to need to do to get a birth report for the baby. He was afraid it would be a circus. The Embassy sent someone to them to take care of it in the end.

Yes, they could easily have remained secure at a Beverly Hills estate but decided to create a circus in an impoverished African country. So gross.

+100 and I'm sure he'd agree.

And he left Aniston for crazy. Why?

He's not that bright and AJ is super manipulative. She picked the right mark.

The misogyny and sexism on these anti Jolie posts is difficult to read. It's 2021 and we still hate strong women.

Pathological, manipulative, psychotic homewrackers.
FTFY.

And guess whose decision that was? Pretty sure it wasn't Brad's.

Even abusive parents can get their children back if they complete the counseling and necessary requirements. They even get supervised visitation. So whether Brad was or wasn’t doesn’t matter anymore. He got 50/50 custody.

Yep, she was always very clear about the best tactics for whipping up frenzied media interest in their family.

Isn’t she the actress famous for handling her own PR?
