What is your take on the Angelina Jolie/Brad Pitt divorce saga? What happened on the plane?

My view is that Angelina has borderline personality disorder and Brad has narcissistic personality disorder. When they first got together, a brilliant folie a deux. But probably led to a pretty spectacular incidence of violence on the plane, fueled as well by alcohol.

(Pulls up armchair and copy of DSM-5)

Tell me more about this theory PP. Because I think Angelina is a textbook narc, and Brad just seems like ... an actor who seeks a lot of affirmation and identity from the women he's involved with, plus alcohol/pot dependency issues.

Well ... Angelina just pings my borderline radar - particularly adopting all those kids. She also has a history of self-harm. And abandoment/abuse issues from her father. Her life seems more unstable & dramatic than narcissistic to me.

I had the same impression of Brad as you (dumb, alcoholic) but I think there’s more there now. I think she fed his narcissism (at first).

It seems like Brad was drunk, attacked Angelina and the oldest kid got involved. Seems shady

From what I read, Brad was drunk and argumentative with Angelina. I’ve never read that he physically attacked her. However, the oldest child tried to intervene and Brad got physical with him, likely shoving him hard. Maddox isn’t tall and he’s slim. It wasn’t right for Brad to put his hands on him.

I've read that they just had very different visions for the future. He was tired of globetrotting, wanted to settle down in LA and have a more normal life. She wanted to continue traveling, or maybe move to London and do more humanitarian work. Who knows. As for Maddox, Brad probably perceives him as more of an adult than a child. So when an 18-year old gets mouthy with you, you treat him as another adult in a brawl, not a kid. Still not right, of course.

Its a Hollywood marriage with a few extra kids than expected. Given Angelina history, divorce was a matter of time. I'm amazed they lasted this long. I wonder if Jen Aniston regrets not having had kids with Brad when she could.

I think there’s a lot of truth to this. I also think Maddox has a very different relationship with his mother than the rest of kids. Angelina has always gushed about how Maddox saved her life when she adopted him. That’s a lot of pressure for a kid.

I think all of her serious issues were on display in her youth. And while she may have been driven to adopt so many kids to build the family she didn't have, she is a pretty damn stable adult from what I've seen. She doesn't seem to have any kind of PD , she seems private and a little quirky maybe.

Nahhh. If Jen wanted kids, she’d have them by now. She’s never seriously wanted them.

Eh, tell me what “pretty damn stable adult” drags on a divorce for four years, publicly, and with kids involved.
- Child of a divorce that took 5 yrs and definitely would never call either of my parents remotely stable

She's rumored to have a drug problem and former nannies described a totally chaotic household basically ron apart by the kids who were almost feral and neglected. So, I don't know about that.

The plane incident was just a trigger for a breakup that Angelina plotted for a while.

Her controlling personality changed for worse when she went through an early menopause and at the time Brand was shooting a movie with the french beauty Marion, with a lot of media attention for both Marion and Brad and possible, but never proved, affair.

Brad's addiction is debatable. Let's just look at his past behavior in Hollywood: there was never any accidents (trashed hotels, crying women, od's). Angelina never had any problems with him smoking pot, that would be ridiculous (coming from a former heroin addict). We might hear one day she started hating tattoos.

I think they had an argument that was escalating, Maddox took Angelina's side (as if he's her partner and not their son) and Brad reacted.

She is ruthless and seriously damaged.

Don't you remember Dr Pinsky's interview on them, well before the divorce was announced in predicting it would be an explosive breakup..... https://www.thenyindependent.com/16803/angelina-jolie-brad-pitt-going-nuclear-so-says-dr-drew/

True. And I'm assuming he wanted kids -- but I seriously doubt he wanted 10 of them or whatever they had and adopted.

I do think he probably was in the wrong on the plane incident, but I also think she was looking for an excuse to ditch him without taking the blame. I think she has been trying to shed the actress image and he doesn’t fit with her humanitarian/spokesperson/activist image.

It's not like Hollywood was beating down her door. Did you read the Sony emails about her? Brutal.

Usually when brawls are a pet or family life a divorce follows...just look at the Palins!
