Training and environment have been great. Costs are on par with the other DAs. There’s really not much else to plan for other than recruiting those few players needed to make the rosters stronger.

If you have seen the 06 team play they need a good 5-6.

Nah, it’s about 3-4. But thanks for playing.

They lost to FCV yesterday 12-0 and Penn 9-0 last weekend. I would say there is a much bigger problem there. I agree with PPs that they need to reduce rosters as a whole and pick up some decent talent in the next couple months, otherwise WS is going to be in trouble.

Yes, they lost in the midfield. Did you watch the games?

What does that mean? Seems to me they lost in the recruiting department.

Yes, that's saying the same thing. If they had been able to recruit 4 talented 2006 players to play in the middle of the field, those wouldn't have been lopsided results. The one defining characteristic of the WS 2006 team is that they are average to small across the board. FCV for the most part looks like an age group up, or two, against them. This doesn't help.

If had to pick the two WS 06s most likely to play for FCV some day. They are both midfielders.

Yes, in a different age group. However, not on the 2006. That's the issue.

PP here.

I was referring to actual 06 players. Not 07 and 08s playing 06. I think both of the younger players did quite well yesterday.

In that case, I disagree with your assessment.

Also, when the result is 0-12, no one did "quite well"

You try playing up two age groups midfield against what is arguably one the best teams in the area if not the country who have been selected for size speed aggressiveness etc and see how you daughter performs.

Look, hoss, no one is saying the 2008 and 2007 aren't good players. No one played well in that game, that's a fact. They are the ones most likely to play for FCV as well. The 2006s on the team could not start for FCV 2006 and thinking that is a bit delusional.

One of the actual 2006s midfielders has played for WS 05 DA and Loudoun 06 ECNL this year. I think she is good enough to start for FCV even if you and the FCV coaches dont agree. My guess is she will continue to improve over time as well relative to the FCV players.

OK, mom. Others have watched FCV and disagree. Can we move on now?

Reading through this thread, it’s diturbing to see how many shitty parents there are out there. Coming on an anonymous board to trash 10/11/12 year old kids who lost a soccer game is pretty pathetic. Grow the hell up and move on. These kids don’t deserve this, and you “adults” are disturbed for putting it out there. If you have the inclination to type something crappy about a kid, at least have the guts to attach your name, so we know who the adults are that like to bully young kids. You’re a disgrace. There’s no excuse for this kind of behavior so don’t try to provide one.

So pointing out to a mom who is pumping her kid as the next starting MF for FCV that her perception is warped is "bullying young kids?" In which world is this? It was apparent to any FCV parent and coach that this world beater couldn't possess, connect, or recover in the midfield. And this translates to starting in the place of the very same players eating her lunch? How??

Not sure how you know it was her mother. Regardless, this thread is full of comments from you, or people like you, who take some sick pleasure in beating down young kids. So, if nothing else, admit you’re a bully. It’s not your job to tell a kid they’re not good enough. So, if you just can’t resist be a total a-hole, maybe you should find a different hobby. Trolling kids is uncool. I’m sure your kid has been put down on this forum, so you feel some sort of entitlement here, but you shouldn’t. As stated before, GROW UP!!

Maybe it's because neutral observers could see the midfield problems in the game and didn't see a reason for the optimism. Parents usually have an inflated view of their kids' abilities. There are a few here who are looking to trash kids, but I think it's mostly people looking to beat down Spirit and keep others from considering it. That seems to be the main point of most of the negative posts on Spirit here.

Bottom line is spirit cannot compete with the other local da/ecnl teams and why is that? Saying they need 4 top players in each age group is easier said than done and isn’t happening. Why would they leave their team to join the disaster? They need to re-evaluate the level of talent and raise the bar.

I'm not sure all the teams needs 4 players. I can't honestly say what the 06s need because the team is young. I'm going to try to do this nameless. When my DD was younger, there was a U12 team that lose 13-0 to a top Nova team. They added 2, yes TWO players, and the next year beat the same team by 3-2. That can happen at younger ages.

For the older teams, sometimes you see one half is where the goals are given up, and the other half they perform better. They may give up no goals or just one. You can also see improvements relative to this year and last year and the fall versus the spring for the most part. The other teams have had some close games this spring, which means instead of 4 players, they may need 1-2. They could be missing that true goal scoring forward or that brick wall centerback.

I wasn't so impressed with the technical skill of FCV. They didn't have a particularly good touch or footwork. It was more that they were very harmonious when they played. They moved together well. That is good soccer of a kind, so congrats to be well coached. The games aren't as far off as people may think.

Neutrall Observer? Just how many neutral observers are watching 06s play? At least be honest with what organization you are unofficially not astroturfing for.

I’m sorry but you are seriously delusional if you don’t think FCV players weren’t exceptionally skilled with their footwork-not to mention they connected every pass, scored on every corner, and talked to each other throughout the entire game, some instructional and some just encouraging each other on. They, like Arlington, have some really talented girls and have managed to meld together 2 amazing teams. I only wish my DD had the talent to play for either of those teams-they have fun together too and it is really a pleasure to watch them play.

In this case, a neutral observer would be anyone other than the parent. Context is everything.

While we are having this discussion, please explain how the inability to connect passes within the midfield, advance the ball to the forwards, take a meaningful shot in goal, recover the ball in the midfield, or stop the beginnings of attacks from the midfield qualifies anyone for starting for the opposing team?

Delusional and hilarious. Give me a break.

^^^Sounds like a disgruntled 06 Spirit parent who thinks their daughter should be playing midfield as opposed to the current players in those positions. If that’s the case-talk to the coaches about it and see if they agree. No need to publicly trash the players on this forum.

A la FCV move-except those parents do it publically on the sidelines!

Nope, wrong again. Just someone who thinks it’s hilarious the lengths FCV parents go to to toot their own horns. Remember, all of your kids are replaceable.
