There are good reasons for having a lot on the roster, if a team plays inultiole leagues or other reasons but I don't suspect that's what this club is doing. Looks like they are using it as a profit center. Since they don't have access to the best leagues, they probably do this to survive. This club is well known for playing dirty

This person has been here grinding their axe with GFR for a few weeks now. Easy to identify because it’s always the same “they play dirty” accusation with zero supporting details. Best to just ignore this troll.

The issue with finding a new team is that they kept adding players to our already large one AFTER the season had started. So when we signed up it looked like an average roster size that grew and grew to almost 30 players. Not ideal. We are an RL team and don't even play EDP anymore so there is only a single league game per weekend not counting tourneys.

When you get to HS age you need a large roster. People get injured, skip games etc.

This appears to be a parent on a current team and is not happy with the situation. Hmmm.

The good players should have moved on to Union, ARL, or NVA by now...sounds like a bad situation!

We'll watch for tryouts and hopefully get out of this club. 30 player rosters is too big.

OK, so genuinely interested, there are a lot of posts on this thread that "GFR is a dumpster fire" or "parents are crazy" or "kids play dirty" but nothing specific. We've been with GFR for a couple of years now and other than last year's admin/coach upheaval we haven't experienced any of this. I mean, not relative to other teams we've played (GFR in our experience needs to be MORE physical, they're almost too polite, and parents for other teams are WAY more intense). So why all the hate? And I hate to bring this up again, but what's with the lawsuit rumors?

It’s not a great club. It’s also not awful. They got rid of lots of the worthless coaches and some of the best ones left for “better” clubs like Herndon and Valor. We stay out of convenience and friendships. I’m definitely frustrated by their lack of communication and ever increasing fees for no more value added, but that would be the case at countless other clubs.
No idea about the lawsuits.

This is how we feel too. Not sure what we will do next season but as the costs increase and we see little to no value for what we are getting, it might be worth looking at other options. A lot of our former team left for other opportunities. We stayed for convenance. Our HC left and we can feel the difference on our team. Not as much bonding before he left and the new coach doesn't really seem interested in our team.

This is how we feel as well. Wonder if we're on the same team. HC left and new coach doesn't seem as interested.
