The issue is how many? I knew the students of parents and the students themselves who told me they lived in Md, or Va, That's not my job as an educator in the classroom. That's the job of the registration office and DCPS and or charters and OSSE to follow up and enforce. No one really wants to stop this as it's kinda of trade as some PG students attend D.C. schools. Some D.C. students attend PG and Montgomery county schools (Look at the schools near the boundary lines). Same for some in VA schools though that's harder due to having to cross bridge. It's a mess all around as each parent is looking for the best situation for their child. THus all sectors of the region is doing this and trust it's across the country as well.

Next time read the article. It makes it very clear that the surrounding counties do a good job of rooting out fraud and DC does a terrible job.

Although according to this thread (starting on page 2) from the DCUM MD public schools board, people believe residency fraud is still common in MoCo. http://www.dcurbanmom.com/jforum/posts/list/720166.page

Whether it is or not, MoCo has committed the resources to address it.

In DC, corruption, cheating, chiseling and cronyism are so endemic and culturally ingrained, DCPS and OSSE seem unable or unwilling to go after residency fraud.

I did and that is why I said what I said. I do agree that D.C. is terrible in this area of non DC residents paying going to school for free. It's been this way over 30 years. Im just telling you as someone in education who has dealt with kids who i helped educated. I agree with you about the fraud.

also, no one goes to virginia or maryland for pre-k. dc is a rare place that offers free pre-k, and it is a huge, huge benefits for residents. saves them $10K plus annually in daycare costs.

I'm talking middle and high school grades as well. Yes the lower levels grades people outside of D.C. are abusing the system. The older grades some D.C. students leave to go to other areas. That's one of the reasons charters were inacted in D.C. due to parents not wanting their kids to attend DCPS school (outside of a few schools).

So instead of writing down plate numbers, write, or better yet visit, your CMs. I'm not sure how much it will matter but it is clear going through the current channels do not work so don't waste your time.

Allen and Grosso are less than useless.

Film all of the MD cars in the pick up and drop off lines. That's what smart phones are for. Send the film to your council member.

Allen does have a challenger. https://www.lisahunterforward6.com/

Grosso isn't up for re-election in 2018.

Elissa Silverman is being challenged as well https://www.dionnefordc.com/

Patents are a minority in DC. We have way less clout than developers building single bedroom apartments for youngsters, for example. So the politicians ignore us.

Huh? All those youngsters living in one bedroom apartments are providing the tax income for the massive city wide spending spree on schools (and rec centers and libraries) we've had for the last 10 years - the demographic being screwed are the youngsters who are not getting much back for all the taxes they pay.

Elissa Silverman originally run on an anti corruption campaign and got my vote.
Where does she stand on school fraud?

Charles Allen sent out a Ward 6 update email discussing school fraud for several paragraphs. I worry that he is hiding behind words
And unlikely to do anything meaningful. I asked him about school fraud at Stuart Hobson when he was running previously and his answer was not strong. Any perspectives on his opponent?

If you like dog whistles and populist garbage, she's your candidate.

She is running to the left of Allen

Take a look at the republican guy. It seems like he has a good grasp of important issues and he would be a good anti-corruption accountability force sorely needed on council

That video was in poor taste. She should have focused on the fact that Allen is entirely driven by his desire to be re elected and has done nothing for Ward 6. Just take a couple snapshots of the 7/11, the meth clinic, long inbound waitlists at Maury, long waitlists at ludlow Taylor (and the corresponding Maryland drop off parade. Have you ever asked him to do his job? I have worked with him and his office on a number of important issues, and we accomplished things IN SPITE of him. He’s completely useless! Honestly when I’ve spoken to him I couldn’t help but notice he is an idiot as well. Out of his depth totally- and willing to do ANYTHING to get re-elected. That is Charles Allen.

So don't vote for him. Luckily, I've had some good help for my family from his office a couple of times. I plan to vote for him.
