They went to Paul Charter in DC for middle school and two privates for high school...still not seeing why the fuss about them going from private school to back to public...

They live IB for Wilson? If they live IB for Wilson - they were IB for Deal or Hardy for Middle. Paul was a better fit?

What if they didn’t live IB for Wilson in middle school....Theres that. No one would question if the lived IB if they weren’t 6’9 Black Boys, top players in the country...

... so what should happen to them? What if they live OB? What if they live in Brightwood? Charge them tuition? Kick them out of Wilson and ship them to Coolidge for their senior year? Make them ineligible to play? Take away their NCAA eligibility for college? That sounds like a witchunt.

Scholar athletes the are DC residents with full rides to college and went to DC schools for the majority of their lives, save for a brief opportunity at two privates (without scholarships) are exactly who DCPS needs to retain.

The only true fraud is the inflation of how big a problem residency fraud actually is.

Try reading a little closer. They are JUNIORS right now. They enrolled at Wilson last month AFTER the basketball season ended. They will play as seniors at Wilson next year and THEN begin as freshmen at UMD in 2019.

Why is Mahki Mitchell’s hometown listed as District Heights, MD here:

So I guess the family bought or are renting a home in the Wilson boundary as of April and are not living in District Heights, as noted here in January:

If it's that important, DCPS can write it into the residemcy rules and do it above board. I am just so over all the lying.

This is exactly the kind of logic (well, excuse-making) that gets us to a 25% of Duke Ellington students being residency cheaters.

The chancellor can give them permission to enroll at Wilson.

But I think the coach is also in hot water re 2 other transfer students who are, in fact, now seniors.

Antwan changed the chancellor's discretionary placement to be much stricter (and then violated it himself). Not sure this is still an option for sport players.

I think if they switched to tax returns for residency thousands of students would disappear. Duke Ellington is an outlier, but not alone. Similar to the graduation rate scandal -- it's right in front of us, and when they actually look, it wil be impossible to ignore.

For DC residents who live out of boundaries, perhaps. The chancellor can't waive residency rules for non-DC residents.

District Heights is where BISHOP MCNAMARA is located....It was their high school at the time...just like VA kids go to Gonzaga... DC Kids go to Maryland Privates all the time...

None of this is correct. One a 5 star recruit and #28 in his class and the other is a 4 star recruit --- like #130.

They are both class of 2019 -- i.e. Juniors this year.
