Another not-so-great look for DCPS officials and another mark against Crooked Kaya, who should never work in education again.

I think Kang looks equally bad.
One person working on this? Ugh. |
| YAYAYAYAY WP! Thank you! |
| I've been waiting for the Atasha James thing to come out. |

"Of the six residency fraud cases currently pending in D.C. Superior Court, four involve at least one current or former school employee."
FFS. |
|
"In neighboring Montgomery County, Md., where the public school system has almost twice as many students as the District, a spokesman said 52 employees spend at least part of their time on residency investigations. Last fiscal year, the system investigated 225 residency claims and found 135 of those families lived outside the county.
In Virginia’s Fairfax County, the school district’s central office employs 15 attendance officers whose duties include investigating residency fraud. A spokesman said fewer than 100 students were found to be living outside Fairfax County each year for the past eight years. D.C. currently has a single investigator responsible for all residency fraud cases." Ding ding ding. |
| The reason that OSSE hasn't had more than 1 person investigating for years is because a large proportion of the cheaters are DC government employees. DCPS and OSSE folks especially. |
Hence the article. |
Right? I wouldn't count on a DC employee to rat out another. |
| We were told that a teacher was going to visit our pk4er at our home when we dropped off his papers at school. Is the residency fraud the reason? I was told the same thing ca 7 years ago when my older DC kid entered pk4. The teacher never came. |
| My old neighbor bypassed the lottery and called in a favor so her dc could go to Murch. She painted it as a benefit given to city employees. Lol! |
No. The teacher home visiting program has nothing to do with residency confirmation. It is to ease the transition and develop rapport between parent and teacher. |
| Nobody cares when the population is older and the school system is just awful. But when the population shifts and there are young families with real in-depth questions, it all changes. Those wait list are about to open up. |
| Not surprised. I said in another thread, most of the residency cheaters I know are employed or have family employed by DC gov. |
|
I mean really is DC enrollment even growing, who the hell knows... if you removed all the MD and VA kids what is the actual population at DCPS? This is getting ridiculous ... No wonder the Chancellor did what he did, it all makes sense now. Kaya probably advised him. IT's a mockery ...
