Unbelievable

No, quite the opposite. Those who are only voting for a candidate because of his race, e.g. those who will vote for Baker or Jealous only because they ARE black, are the racists ones. You believe that your form of racism is acceptable because you vote for the minority, but if you are only voting for a candidate because of his race, then you ARE racist.

If, however, you are voting for a candidate who's platform and results you happen to agree with, regardless of his race, you are not racist.

As a resident of PG County, I feel that Rushern Baker has done a good job with our county, but I also think that Hogan has done well for the state. I will continue to support Hogan, but would be willing to support Baker in future elections.

I am not voting for Rushern Baker because he's black. I am voting for him because I like his record in PG County and I'm a proud Democrat who does not agree with many of Hogan's prior actions and current positions. If you think people only vote for black candidates because of the color of their skin, you're 50 shades of stupid.

+1 There's a whole lot of stupid on this thread.

I'll vote for any Dem over Hogan because I think he's been terrible for MoCo public schools. But if any Dem besides Madaleno wins in the primary, you can bet I'll be writing letters advocating that that candidate doesn't screw over our school as well based on the Kirwan Commission recommendations. Madaleno is the only one who's come out publicly against the Kirwan Commission recommendations to soak MoCo further to support other counties' school systems.

Yeah this is really concerning to me. I guess the other candidates think all of MoCo is rich and can just cough up a lot more money? Does Hogan support that recommendation too?

PP again- I also wonder how many MiCo primary voters are even aware of this.

Hogan has voted to withhold money from HoCo and MoCo designated to compensate for the higher cost of staffing in those two areas so you can be sure he would be happy with further restrictions in funds.

OTOH, some of the other counties that would be affected are typically republican-leaning, IIRC.

We are Republican and voted for Hogan but didn’t realize that he is apart of the cause of county schools paying for other school systems. We therefore are going with Maladeno.

Did you switch affiliations? It’s not an open primary.

Like democrats aren't going to take money from moco and hoco?

Redistribution of income is a democrat standard.

Hogan has some good qualities but prioritizing education isn't among them.

No one is disputing this. several folks have pointed that all but one of the Dem candidates do support the redistribution. But if Hogan also supports it, I lose an incentive to vote for him.

Well if Ben Jealous wins looks like I am definitely voting for Hogan. I don't think I've ever voted for a Republican EVER but wow whites would be oppressed in MD if Ben Jealous won. And he is WAY to progressive.

Democrats redistribute with the desire to help the poor. Hogan redistributes because his voting base isn’t the wealthier MoCo/HoCo.
