I'd rather American kids be able to access financial aid, and that not only those whose families can afford $90K a year are able to attend. Right now at all these schools, international students are subsidizing U.S. students.

PP again. This also has implications well beyond Harvard. What international student would want to study in the U.S. these days, if they know they can be sent home at a moment's notice? If you have a kid who will be attending college in the next few years--even if Harvard is not at all on your radar--and you cannot pay full freight, you should be very worried. This could drastically change admissions strategies at schools across the board.

My son studied in Italy last year. In the process of obtaining his student visa, we were informed of a list of actions that could get him “sent home at a moments” notice. Getting arrested was one of them.

So what? He was a guest in their country and has to play by their rules.

Again with the stupidity. What students got arrested to warrant getting kicked out of Harvard over the course of one afternoon??? This has nothing to do with the students and everything to do with Trump being a fascist dictator who thinks he can do whatever the hell he wants to whomever he wants.

Exactly.

That’s next.
Employ all the unemployed males in middle America living at home playing video games.

Just because International students have more potential than your niece doesn't make it wrong for international students to study there. Your niece should work harder. International students shouldn't have to suffer for this.

As an American, I have no personal duty or obligation to international students. My country‘s duty and obligation is to its own citizens.

Getting the best and brightest to live and work in our country is looking out for our country. A lot our scientists are immigrants, many who came here as foreign students.

Spoken like a true hypocritical progressive elitist.

I am a moderate and far from elitist. My parent were blue collar workers.

What i am is not afraid of my children having to compete with foreigners.

I’m not “afraid” of them having to compete with foreigners either. I just believe that my kids, and yours, should have certain advantages and benefits conveyed to them simply because they are Americans.

That is the definition of being afraid!!!!!

No, it’s not. I have long list of ancestors who fought for this country and the future for their own descendants. It’s now their turn to pick up the baton.

My ancestors go back to the Mayflower. Imported Americans are the best kind.

You should get help for your self loathing.

I’m proud of all of my ancestors. The most driven were the ones FOTB.

Me too - I helped elect Trump all 3 times.

Hopefully Harvard's anti-semitism is eliminated. We don't want racism or anti-semitism to be rewarded with federal dollars.

I'm not sure if Harvard has enough domestic applicants to make up the international shortfall, so I guess we will see how that shapes up.

What you want is to be ahead of everyone in the race simply because you're an American. You don't want fair competition and to let the best and the brightest win. You think you are owed the top spot because you were born here.

Damn right.

Yep. We were.

All of you whining - Grow some balls.
This isnt some existential crisis.
Most of us don’t care about Harvard.
It’s the sheer optics….
Admit full pay Americans before rich international oligarchs. Admit poor FGLI Americans over poor internationals.

It’s an American university. If they don’t like it, they can move to a satellite campus in Toronto.

Amen.

In the long run, this is good for America. In the late 90s and 2000s the foreign admit rate was sub 10% for grad and undergraduate.

Innovation seemed to do just fine back then. I seem to remember something called the Internet being invented and the subsequent boom?

Stop freaking out. You guys are just silly.

Plenty of them have gotten themselves arrested for protesting and disturbing the peace. But I realize that is not the conversation here. Point is, countries set their own rules.

Sure, but In America the rule should not be that you don't get a student visa if you enroll at a university that won't let the president control the curriculum. That's what's happening here.

A funny thing happened on the way to the admissions game. When spots for Americans open up, more apply.

Americans are stupid. They can’t even read. We need more internationals because they are actually smart. CHINA is the future of technology!

Why isn’t this a good thing? More spots for every type of American student?
