DH Bought a Gun

Anonymous
I’m still waiting for the moron to reply back to my post asking about what “gun club” she believes will store my many thousands of dollars of guns.

She spouted off about that like an expert and can’t reply and admit she doesn’t know what the hell she’s talking about.

He might say, "it's the gun and kids, and you can leave if you wish."

Yeah, and we are sure a court would agree.

If a woman wanted a divorce simply because her husband bought a gun, a judge would probably put HER in the nuthouse for evaluation.

The court will say 50/50.

So the question is, are your idiotic principles worth blowing up your life and only seeing your kids half the time?

NP What if he has mental health issues or the kids have any kind of mental health issues that make it unsafe to have a gun in the house? But not enough to convince the court. What do you do in that case? Asking for a friend!

Divorce only makes that situation worse. Now your nutso gun-owning ex is alone with your kids half the time.

PP I am in this situation now. DH has pretty severe MH issues, 2 out of 3 kids also have special needs with severe behaviors (one also with depression), and DH recently became a gun nut. I asked him not to bring guns home and he flat out refused. Said if I don't like it, I am free to leave - he'd rather keep his guns than his family. So I am stuck. Sad TBH.

Wait… This is really out of the blue, and seems odd. I have been following this thread but haven’t chimed in, but now I really want to know more about what you mean.

DH and I have shot all the shotgun sports (skeet, sporting clays and trap) for years. I have never heard of anything like this.

Exactly which gun club are you talking about?

Also my Syren would cost about $5k to replace and hubbie’s Kolar would be >$15k. Why in the world would we ever want them out of our possession. What gun club would want to assume that liability.

Please fill us all in with your expert knowledge and experience in the world of shooting sports.

Not the pp you're responding to, because they're an ignorant, paranoid person. Seconding what you said, because this isn't how guns/gun ownership works. It's literally the stupidest possible idea. What benefit would there be to any business taking responsibility for multiple owners' likely multiple firearms? The liability would be unreal.

This is what anti-gun nuts think is a solution, but it's just a dozen new problems waiting to happen.

My horse is worth $200K. I keep him stabled at a barn. I have heirloom family jewelry worth far more than your guns. I keep some of it in a safe deposit box. I can’t figure out why you think no place would be willing to let you keep a $5K gun.

We had a guy in our neighborhood who owned multiple firearms. One night he sent ranting texts to a bunch of us with pictures of his guns saying he was coming for us (this was due to differing political beliefs, which only one of us had been vocal about). We called the cops. We called CPS because he was home with his three daughters while his wife was out of town. He wasn’t arrested. They didn’t take his guns. This was in a wealthy city in VA. I think you severely underestimate how much anyone cares about guns in the legal system.

Not the PP but I googled northern Virginia gun club storage and this came up:

https://xcal.com/shooting-sports/gun-storage/

It isn’t a question of “think.” Multiple PP’s have asked for referrals to the range-based storage facilities other PP’s think/claim are available. The best that has been offered is a paucity of facilities aimed at the “cold storage” market, not regular in-and-out for use at the range with cleaning and maintenance facilities, etc., available onsite. This may be a fantastic business opportunity for somebody, but if it is, nobody seems to be exploiting that opportunity.

Well, how about that. Somebody finally found one place.

Sure, sure... but depending on what kind of gun, it may not be a "he can move it there tomorrow" situation. Large lockers are waitlisted: https://xcal.com/locker-safe-rentals/

I'm sure she'll complain about the extra time he spends at the shooting range so he can access his gun(s), and maintain them there. Also the added expense. There's no pleasing people who have their heart set on being righteously indignant.

I'm the PP with the horse. I'm also the PP who spent two seconds googling and came up with a storage place. I also happen to own guns. I think most of you on this thread are ridiculous.

It took me two seconds to find that place. Try a little harder and I'm sure you'll find something that suits your needs.

Cool. For your next trick: Find a place to board and train your attitude. You sound utterly insufferable. Spoiled tw@.

I actually spent a reasonable amount of time looking, albeit in Maryland. I found only “cold storage” places. You found precisely one place in VA (in the middle of nowhere) with your “two seconds.” With due homage to your superior research skills, I can’t help but wonder if your less than kind attitude bespeaks (1) more than two seconds of research; and/or (2) disappointing results in that you found only one place when, “the common wisdom” would seem to suggest such facilities are commonplace, when they do not seem to be.

This is all because OP MADE UP THE WHOLE THING.

This thread is a troll thread.

- show me proof these places exist!
- here’s proof
- no that doesn’t count
🙄🙄🙄

They do obviously exist. It’s not much different than a shooting range that rents guns, they still have to keep them safe. I’d be shocked to hear actual gun owners so unaware of this, but I know you’d rather sh!t on people who don’t want guns in their home rather than engage in actual conversation.
