Fertility rate in Gaza is 3.6 - 7.0 children per childbearing aged woman, each of the last 30 years.

Makes no sense to have non-stop kids in poverty, no job, region run by religious terrorists.
What’s going on?

The poorest countries of the world also have the highest fertility rates. It’s always been the case.

Contraception and abortion are usually restricted by "authorities", in Gaza case - Hamas.

Women have zero rights in Palestine. Their role is to pop out babies.

That sounds more like the Jewish settlers who don’t think women should learn to read or leave the house, just make babies.

The percentage of educated women is one of the highest in the world with Palestinians.

Female literacy and education rates are nearly identical for Israelis and Palestinians. However women’s percentage in the workforce is much higher in Israel.

Percentage in the workforce is higher in Israel more generally relative to Palestine. Hard to create jobs when there's a constant fear of attack and bombs dropping.

Fear of attack like what happened at a musical festival to innocent civilians?

Hmm …

What is the greater tragedy?

A. 1,125 dead Israelis, over 300 of whom were active duty security services and another several hundred of whom had served dishonorably in the IDF.

or

B. 35,000 dead women and children in Gaza, none of whom voted for Hamas.

No one buys Hamas’ reports of the number of dead in this conflict.

The Economist just published an article saying the actual number of dead is actually much much higher. Why? Because Gaza does not have equipment to lift/search the rubble. So there thousands of bodies still buried under all the rubble.

Here is the article. They think 100,000 dead is closer to the actual number of dead in Gaza.

Silly post. Palestine is one of the poorest areas on earth. That’s what happens when you live under occupation, apartheid and a blockade.

Hamas had multiple multi billionaire politicians with many more millionaires. Palestine only has a GDP of 17 billion. Yet, it's somehow all Israel's fault.

Even if it’s 1/2 of the reports (which I doubt)-that’s a whole lot of dead women and children in Gaza. Plus the foreign aid workers who the IDF accidentally killed as they tried to distribute food and medicine. So in your world the lives of 20k Palestinians are worth much less than 1,125 dead Israelis? There is a name for people who think that way….

I mean, the IDF targeted and bombed the World Central Kitchen workers THREE TIMES. The first strike didn’t kill everyone, so they got out of vans and fled and they were ALL ASSASINATED. And yet we as a loose group of Westerners did NOTHING to seek something like justice or even transparent answered for our nationals, who were there simply to provide food.

I used to be in these threads and the way pro-Netanyahu trolls live here just disgusts me. Nothing is enough. The goal is to kill all Palestinians in Gaza and pretend to have a moral high ground to have the US and other Western nations supply young soldiers, endless money and limitless weapons to Israel. Why? When is enough enough?

Notable left-wing crackpot publication the Financial Times has an editorial from the board decrying Israeli treatment of Gaza and Western silence. What’s the answer there?

Gee, the Economist, the FT, are those papers run by those kids who learn everything about the region from TikTok? Is that it?

Unadulterated nonsense. This started with an evil act of terror on innocent civilians. It’s not pretending to have the moral high ground - no people capable of such atrocities as October 7 could have ever claimed it.

Wars result in unintended civilian casualties. If Hamas hadn't attacked on October 7th, none of these deaths would have happened. Also, Hamas should stop firing missiles into Israel and accept a 2-state solution that has been offered on 5 separate occasions. Stop advocating for the destruction of Israel. It's not going anywhere. If you have a problem with Israel existing, talk to the British about it (oh, and the UN recognizes Israel as a sovereign nation, so there's that).

The deaths would’ve happened regardless of 10/7- just in the West Bank instead of Gaza.

Over 250 Palestinians in the West Bank were killed from January-September 2023 right before the war which is was record high for the WB (not led by Hamas by the way).

Since 2022 and the election of the right wing Cabinet in Israel, West Bank violence reached a fever pitch. Israel knew retaliatory violence was coming but they expected it from the WB not Gaza. This is all thanks to the failed Palestinian separatism Israel tried to foment between WB and Hamas. Hamas obviously doesn’t care if they’re banned from entry in the WB. They still feel some sort of solidarity to the Palestinians there

Pretty much. Very easy to sit back and judge from the safety of London when you aren’t the ones getting targeted. They probably would have judged the UK’s actions in WW2 if they had been alive for that.

Baghdad Bob comes to mind....

The Pew polling shows the majority of Americans across ages have a negative view of Israel. Not of Jewish people, of the state. Sort of the opposite of Baghdad Bob and your ellipses.

It’s legitimately shocking to me how many posters here lack decency and morality when it comes to starved Palestinians and the Israeli blockades. It’s just absolutely insane. I have a child who is 10, and is reading Anne Frank’s diary. How little humans learn over time.

Ilan Pappe and Norman Finkelstein and Noam Chomsky and Amnesty International and the UN and a majority of Americans and Spaniards and Irish people and hell, an apparent majority of people in non-Muslim countries, are ALL done with this heinous cruelty. Is the Senator from Maryland a college-aged agitator or AOC, or is he in fact a fairly centrist party politician who has said e-f’ing-nough? Is EVERYONE antisemitic?

What do you do now, that your arguments have died on the vine?

60 percent of Americans support US support for Israeli military until the hostages are returned.

Gallup has higher support for Israel compared with Palestinians.

Divider and conquer failed for Israel with Jordanians vs Palestinians, Lebanese Christian’s vs Muslims, and Palestinians in Gaza vs the WB.

I don’t know what they were thinking by creating settlements in the WB because they’ve just really enmeshed their country into theirs without a second thought that it could backfire

An evil act of terror that used pickup trucks and hot air balloons? Israel couldve stopped it and refused. They stopped missiles from Iran but couldn’t stop men without aircraft taking people by hand and foot? Israel couldve been at the Gaza border stopping the trucks Within seconds. Israel’s army commanders are also puzzled as to why Netanyahu put a pause to that.

Netanyahu wanted captives taken because he wanted a war to avoid going to jail or resignation.

Until Israelis face that truth, Hamas won’t be eliminated. Netanyahu wants them there
